We love makeup and regularly splurge on what seems like a small fortune on the latest products which might do the job better than the present ones. Not only do we fall for glamorous advertising but when it’s a trusted brand, we just can’t help ourselves and add that item to our virtual carts and feel like this is it! Until next time. But imagine getting the same quality for a less hefty price tag – It IS possible! Here are some products (AKA dupes) that we have tried and tested for you to save you some bucks yet get the brand spanking new products.

1. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (S$35) vs L’Oreal’s Lash Paradise (S$22.90)

These mascaras are like twins separated at birth. From the Pink packaging to the hourglass shaped wand, to the application, they are almost one and the same. The only difference is the price!

2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz (S$40) vs NYX Micro Brow Pencil (S$16)

The ABH Brow Wiz is one of our all-time favorites but costs a whopping $40.  But luckily, for those of you who would rather spend that amount on something bigger and better, NYX comes to the rescue with its Micro Brow Pencil formula matching that of ABH’s almost to perfection. And this is what we call a perfect example of dupes.

3. Beauty Blender Original (S$32) vs Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (S$16)

Beauty blenders aren’t cheap or long-lasting unless you look after them with your life. Not only does the Miracle Complexion Sponge blends foundation seamlessly, but it also has a flat end to better press in cream products AND costs less than the Beauty Blender.

4. Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray (S$48) vs NYX Makeup Setting Spray in Matte (S$18)

So the Urban Decay setting spray created so much hype that we all went and got one … till NYX’s Make up setting spray was discovered and lo and behold! It is very similar to Urban Decay’s spray, both giving a mattifying finish which lasts all day for less than half the price.

5. Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer ($72) and ELF Poreless Putty Primer ($12)

Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer was the most heavenly luxe primer I have ever owned. It’s very pricey but so worth it! Until ELF came up with the Poreless Putty Primer which is almost the same formula but the price differential is insane compared to the difference in application. This makes it a no-brainer!

6. Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette (S$83) vs Makeup Revolution Re-Loaded Palette Iconic Fever (S$11.20)

Shortly after the release of Naked Heat, Makeup Revolution dropped a palette with the same earthy and fiery shades. And guess what? Makeup Revolution’s shades are not only more varied, the pigment is slightly stronger which makes it a winner.

7. YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch (S$62) vs Sephora Collection Smoothing & Brightening Concealer (S$16)

The luxury brand YSL’s Touche Éclat complexion highlighter is known for its ability to erase under eye circles. But it’s super pricey especially when well reputed brands like Sephora release a concealer that gets the same job done, and for less.
