Saad should have gotten the hint that something was off when Maheer dropped the teacup. Maheer’s elongated silence was mistaken for her acceptance which (in most cases) is named as sharam. With everyone around Maheer just putting words in her mouth about how happy she is with the proposal, seemed like the whole family was in denial about what Maheer really wanted?
Should Maheer have been brave enough and spoken to her father afterward about not wanting to get married to Saad or do you think she did the right thing by asking Saad to sacrifice his love? Obviously, Maheer doesn’t know how Saad feels about her. The drama highlights, how, even in present times, a girl is considered and lauded as obedient and sharam walee if she accepts her parent’s decisions without question. Her trying to express her own desires or disagreement is definitely not what exemplary daughters do best.
