Seems like The hit star boy singer, The Weeknd is not done just dominating the music charts and is on his way to Hollywood.
A Grammy award winner originally known as Abel Tesfaye is set to make his acting debut and that too with a lead role. Making it a double whammy, it is also going to be his production debut. The feature film is written by him and co-written by his producing partner Reza Fahim, while Tesfaye, Fahim, Kevin Turen and Harrison Kreiss are producing with Shultz and Jenna Ortega Executive producing.
1. What Is The Film About?
The project is currently untitled with the genre, plot and full cast being kept under tight wraps. The project is now underway and is going to be shot in Los Angeles, directed by Trey Edward Shultz, who directed It Comes at Night (2017) and Waves (2019). The project has been in development since some time by the Weeknd and Shultz only came on board to direct it in the recent months. Once that was confirmed, Fahim began developing the final script which fell into Ortega and Keoghan’s hands.

The cast is supremely star studded with the Addams family hit star, Wednesday played by Jenna Ortega and Oscar nominated actor Barry Keoghan, who also won a BAFTA for his role Dominic Kearney in the Banshees of Inisherin. Both committed to the film as their next project and the film was a go.
3. Who is Jenna Ortega? (Only For Those Living Under A Rock)
Jenna Ortega has on the other hand been smashing all Netflix records with her hit Wednesday, helmed by Tim Burton and based on a character from the Addams Family series. Her viral dance as Wednesday Addams has been doing the rounds on social media with kids and adults both dressing up as her famous character. The show has also been renewed for a second season as Netflix confirmed.

She will also be hosting the Saturday Night Live on 11TH March and is set to be seen in Scream 4.
5. Where Else Can We See The Weeknd?
Although notably, this is Tesfaye’s first lead role, he has made a small cameo as himself in Uncut Gems. He has also shared the trailer for his new show, HBO’s The Idol which he co-created with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. The show revolves around the plot of a mysterious cult drama starring Tesfaye (The Weeknd), Lily-Rose Depp, Dan Levy and Black pink’s Jennie Kim. In addition, he has co-written and starred in an episode of American Dad and once voiced a character on The Simpsons.
