Yunhi – What is Kim up to? And does David deserve somebody like her? Though the two families started on an uncomfortable note, given the history, that doesn’t justify her agenda to change and challenge everything.

Challenging mindsets
Yunhi tests your patience on many levels but then also portrays some really positive moments like Kim insisting that Iqbal applies mehndi on her hand, calling out some ridiculous beliefs and prejudices, and hopefully, changing mindsets.
The conversation between Dada and Dawood was interesting. Sadly, it reflects the age-old mindset where it is believed that marriage or one person can change everything, but it doesn’t justify sacrificing someone’s happiness and future well-being in order to achieve this.
A Slightly Confusing Character Portrayal
Dear Kim, we would think you would know the difference between being rude and insensitive and outspoken. That entire conversation with Dawood’s ex-fiancé was unnecessary and harsh. Telling Naima about Dawood’s ex and making her feel that she was a complete nonentity in his life was really not needed. This is a harsh way to paint Kim’s character who has shown to be ethically correct at so many points, especially when she is championing the cause of women, or excessive expenditure in households, hypocritical values, etc.
The Dawood Challenge
Even in the West, no bride would decide to leave her home right in the middle of her wedding festivities, that too, without informing anyone in the household. So why did you do that?
Do you just want to challenge Dawood?
Does Kim’s erratic and insensitive behavior stem from a need to put down orthodox society and a family that did not take kindly to her father? Is she, in criticizing the ways, mannerisms, lifestyle, and values of her father’s family, driving an agenda against Dawood, which is making her more insensitive than we would want her to be?
Dawood’s clarification on the other hand, that he wants to enter the marriage contract with a clear and honest mind, and that he has no ex-relationship at present or in the past helped show him as the more elevated of the two partners in a relationship. Can Kim match up to his honesty and also give the marriage a fair chance of success?
Or is it just revenge and a rebound from George’s wedding for her, where she feels she can pack up and leave for America at a whim if things don’t work out?
Dawood and Kim’s journey has just begun, and we hope to see both characters embark on a relationship that motivates self-reflection and hopefully, uncover deeper, more nuanced layers to their personality with the romance quotient worked in for sure!
Can Yunhi do it? We’ll have to wait and watch for sure!
