2023 is taking on never seen before genres on the Pakistani drama season. Not really though. Limited edition series was a thing back in the day, but clapping it with a murder mystery might just take the spice meter one notch higher.
Oh well, if that’s not all, the onscreen trio of Dur e Fishan, Wahaj Ali and Tooba Siddiqui along with a star cast and a creative team to match is what blockbusters are made of, right?
So read on as we give you all we know about this new drama on the block!
1. Jurm is a limited series
The drama is a mini-series. So, there’s no getting into the groove, sinking your teeth into the story with your cup of chai, this one will be a caffeine hit, (double dose espresso to be fair), from the get-go and probably, finish off before it starts. So, make sure you tune in to the first episode. Wait for it, … we’ll tell you when and where right here, right now.

2. Jurm was shot in the streets of Karachi
The drama was shot over last summer (2022) in the streets of Karachi, multiple venues, one city. In one instance, in Lines Area, when the team was filming on a school holiday, the crew was chased by about 500 local children who just wanted to get in on the action. Yes, it’s all happening in this city and we wonder how the makers kept the enthusiastic spectators off the lens radar! Guess we’ll have to wait and watch!
3. The creative team behind Jurm
The drama is produced by 7th Sky Entertainment, team Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi, and will air on Har Pal Geo. It features Mehreen Jabbar’s direction, written by Shah Yasir. It is a murder mystery, limited edition thriller. As far as we know, the ensemble cast includes Wahaj Ali, Tooba Siddiqui, Dur e Fishan, Atiqa Odho, Mohammed Ehteshamuddin, Zhalay Sarhadi, Tazeen Hussain, Maha Hassan, Kashif Hussain, Wajdan among others.

4. It’s a murder mystery
The drama is, simply put, a murder mystery. The makers tell us that you’ll keep guessing as to who’s done it. The story follows a nonlinear progression, which, in most cases, would suggest that we get to know there’s been a murder(?) at the outset, just our guess, btw, no spoilers, and then, presumablyz the backstory will follow.
Hooked already? So are we! Get to know more, coz we’re not done yet!
5. What Wahaj Ali has to say about his character in Jurm
“Is mein aapko DNUTN ki sadness bhi mile gi, uski umeed bhi mile gi. Fitoor jaisi intensity bhi mile gi. I mean, toxic level nahi hai mera” (he reveals, laughingly). “Ishq Jalebi ka fun element bhi insha Allah nazar aeyga.” And when he puts it that way, how can we NOT, but have high expectations?”
Not just that, but he reveals there will be a ‘twist’ in his character. Oh well, more suspense, before the first ball has been bowled or rather, episode has been screened. More of a googly bowler he is, we presume (his character, that is, OFC).
6. Fun Fact! Related to us by director Mehreen Jabbar
She explained, in her own words, that ”Poor Dur e Fishan had to do a lot of running in this one scene. So maybe don’t wear slippers, there’s a lot of running in this scene, I had warned her, but … she still wore slippers, and that was a tough night for her”. Mehreen reminisces with a chuckle!
So folks, if you spot the sequence where Dure makes like Usain Bolt through the streets of Karachi, make sure to catch her footwear! That’s a lot of hard work there, so don’t miss it!
7. First episode release?
Jurm will be screened on Har Pal Geo on 28th April at 8pm. So mark your calendars folks, it’s time to add some thrill, suspense and mystery to your drama watch!
And that’s it folks, that’s our 7 things we know about Jurm. Tell us if you know more in comments and tune in for the first episode review, coming soon!
