Our national hero’s have made headlines as they head to Harvard University, not for receiving more accolades for their cricket performances but to be part of a prestigious Harvard University executive program with multiple illustrious global athletes, actors and media personalities! Truly, the endeavour of learning must never stop in life. The number one ranked ODI batter in the world and captain of the Pakistan cricket team Babar Azam and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan, the vice-captain of the Pakistan Test team, have become the first Pakistani cricketers to have enrolled in the prestigious program. That’s not just it, they have further made us proud by creating another first, as per the press release this is the first time professional cricketers have become a part of the said program.
Harvard is an education institute that needs no introduction, one of the top global universities where literary, political, science giants have begun their journey. An institute where people dream high and strive to be able to be admitted into. Our cricketers are making us proud at home and beyond once again representing the worry-ridden country in the right light.

An Executive Program For Our Top Cricketers
It’s not just a media or PR stunt neither a one day event but the cricketers will ACTUALLY be experiencing learning in Harvard Business School’s executive education programme, The Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports (BEMS) designed for world class athletes with a fierce interest in the business world. They will also be joined by their mentor and founder and CEO of sports talent management company Saya Corporation, Talha Rehmani.
Joining A List Of Illustrious Personalities
The cricketers will be joining an esteemed group of elite athletes, actors and media personalities who have previously been a part of the BEMS programme, athletes including footballers Kaka, Edwin van der Sar, Gerard Pique, Oliver Kahn, NFL’s Brandon Marshall, NBA’s Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade and Major League Baseball’s Alex Rodriguez and even Hollywood A-listers such as Channing Tatum and LL Cool J.
Back At School
Azam and Rizwan will be back at school and attending classes at the Harvard Business School campus in Boston, Massachusetts from May 31st to June 3rd. They will further engage in various community activities in the US post the programme till June 13th. The program is chaired by Professor Anita Elberse, an accomplished woman being the youngest to ever tenure at the Harvard Business School. She says she is delighted to welcome the star Pakistani cricketers to the Harvard Business School for the BEMS program and that they will greatly benefit from the experience.
Babar Azam’s Inspiration For Joining The Program
Star cricketer, Babar Azam has said he wants to learn, grow and give back to the global community. He was quoted saying: “My inspiration for joining this world-class program at Harvard is to connect, explore, listen, learn, grow, and give back to the community worldwide. I am sure there are scores of things to learn from the amazing athletes and top business executives from the entertainment, media, and sports industries who are coming from corners of the world”
Mohammad Rizwan’s Enthusiasm To Learn From The Bests
On the other hand, Vice captain Rizwan is also excited to be able to have a chance to learn from the ‘bests’ in the world. “It’s a huge honor to represent Pakistan on such a prestigious global stage,” Rizwan said. “We are going to Harvard to learn from the best in the world and at the same time to share our journey and learnings with everyone. I am certain that this will be an exciting journey, and I look forward to sharing our learning and experiences with the next superstars of the cricket world.” It surely will be exciting and an experience to remember.
