ASP Arsalan and Noori are making Jhok Sarkar is a brilliant watch in the week. Hashim Nadeem has not only given us deep, meaningful conversations but the Hashim Nadeem-Saifee Hassan “meeting of minds” has brought a classic Hollywood film touch to the drama.
A touch of Hollywood?
If you have grown up watching Hollywood or American TV shows where a hero enters the scene and brings about change in a town and the life of its inhabitants; bikes, jeeps and one belonging that takes on his signature style or is close to his heart, you will witness the same happening here. ASP Arsalan in crisp white shirt is the hero we are all rooting for. The garage, the bikes, the rundown jeeps, everything adds to the visual experience and makes the storytelling doubly interesting.
The attention to detail makes a not so novel idea, still a great one to watch.
The outdoor scenes and locations are a treat for the eyes and a refreshing change from the indoor room-oriented scenes we get to watch in most dramas.
A Villain Who’s Roping Us In
The narrative presents a villain in the form of Peeral, who is both intelligent, conniving, and yet seems sensitive. He keeps us engaged and intrigued about what happens next. The fact that the script has given Peeral some very impactful dialogues and conversations with Noori, makes him much more interesting than the average negative character.
Noori is winning hearts. She is courageous and obliging but carries a spirited, rebellious streak. She is fearless and never backs off from making a point. The conversations between her and Peeral are thought provoking and worth listening to carefully. Some dialogues hit close to reality, and some make you think – like Peeral’s dialogue “Tum aurtein shohar ka gunah maaf ker suktee ho lekin nikah nahin”.
Noori’s courage and thought-provoking responses added to her lack of desire to feel possessive about Peeral is working to her advantage – Peeral is rightly intrigued by her, and this might help future interactions between them to her advantage. For now, we wonder if she will, in fact become that fearless “baaghi” person once she discovers what happened with Shaukat.
ASP Arsalan In Trouble?
While we enjoyed ASP Arsalan’s response to dinner at Peeral’s home, we wait to see how this personal rebuff will make Peeral change tactics and employ a new method to suss out Arsalan? The contrast between father and son Peeral vs Meeral is black and white, and one wonders when they both really come at loggerheads, who will win eventually?
