The first look of upcoming drama ‘Mein’ sparks a Twitter frenzy as Wahaj Ali & Ayeza Khan’s romance takes center stage.
The Pakistani drama landscape is fast evolving (is it though?) We at least hope so. We are being inundated with new drama teasers day in and out. One such highly anticipated project of the two very fan favorite leads has the drama world buzzing. Today, the makers finally launched the teaser for Mein and after the first look, here is what all we think, hope and fear.
The teaser merely a couple hours in, has led to Wahaj Ali yet again rampaging Twitter trends, thanks to his solid fanbase. The drama sets Ayeza’s return to drama after her last project, Meray Pass Tum Ho.
The Star Team Behind Mein
The upcoming drama Mein is produced by Big Bang Entertainment and is set to air on ARY Digital. It is directed by Badar Mehmood, known for “Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha,” and written by Zanjabeel Asim, the brilliant mind behind “Pyar Kay Sadqay.” The story unfolds with the dynamic duo of Wahaj Ali and Ayeza Khan, promising an enduring romance that will keep viewers hooked. Moreover, the Ost of Mein is sung by Asim Azhar, adding more sparks in the possible romance hinting teaser.
First Seriously Dreamy Look
The 1 minute and 15 second long teaser begins to the yester year ticking of the clock set against the backdrop of Karachi’s antique Frere Hall. The historic value of the architecture and the classic horse carriage set in the background compel us to wonder if it will it be a period piece? Our heroine Ayeza gracefully walks in along with her vintage bicycle and fresh flowers clad in a gorgeously fitted dress. Our hero all dapperly suited too, grabs a beautiful bouquet from a flower shop (the kind we are yet to see in Karachi though). They both sat on a rustic-feel bench as Wahaj reads a newspaper headline: “War Is Over” So there you go, another hint at the drama being a period piece? While Ayeza delicately feeds the birds, Wahaj dreamily, head tilted behind the newspaper, smiles at her, looking absolutely besotted. Wahaj once again seems to be acing a charming aura with the onscreen couple’s (hopefully) heart fluttering chemistry.
Their expressions and emotions are subtle but contradictively intense to an extent that makes you lost, captures, actually no! Steals your attention! The wardrobe, visuals, production/set design, aesthetics seem a class apart from our regularly televised Pakistani dramas.
In a subsequent scene, the couple set against a pristine vintage silver sports car outside a retro coffee shop on a snowy winter night following Wahaj twirling Ayeza around in slo mo. The picturization is so dreamy, we couldn’t be any more mesmerised. As far as the teaser goes, it’s the kind of backdrops, scene sets and cinematography we haven’t seen in Pakistani dramas so far. The teaser ends with the onscreen couple both clad in pure white lounging in a garden. It seems a magical kind of age old romance which we think might just capture the true glamour of bygone times.
As much as the teaser actually enthrals us, we fear if it will be another drama with an amazing teaser but leading up to dragged out episodes and failed promises? Crossing our fingers, this one lives up to its hype!
