ARY Entertainment’s Mein just took a very interesting turn…THE Mubashira Jaffar chose to really do the unthinkable. The self-absorbed, entitled and incredibly self-obsessed Mubashira Jaffar has now suddenly undergone a swift change in her personality, from being a hot headed, impatient and an impulsive person she is now, very strategical, far sighted and unbelievably patient.
She decided to save her marriage and her self respect avoiding another divorce. Yielding to Zaid’s desires, she successfully persuaded both sets of fathers to arrange his marriage to Ayra. However, the question remains: was this the right decision?
Sparking The Age Old Debate
Many viewers are pointing out while it may have sparked a substantial twist in the drama, reigniting our interest, the inclusion of Zaid’s second marriage and his attitude towards Mubashira is drawing ire. Audiences are questioning whether women are still constrained by outdated norms, compelled to tolerate and accept polygamy as a means to salvage their marriages and avoid society’s wrath and judgment associated with the label of divorce. Do women continue to harbor deep fear of divorce in modern times?
Should An Educated, Progressive Girl Like Mubashira Choose The Same Path?
Why would someone like Mubashira, hailing from such a progressive family, choose to do something like this? Why would she compromise her self-respect in this manner? Should our dramas be endorsing the concept of a second marriage, especially involving the main characters? Zaid has not demonstrated grace or even a hint of concern in his treatment of Mubashira, nor has he shown complete trust in Ayra. Whenever his father reminds him of Ayra possibly being interested in his wealth, his mind effortlessly gravitates towards such suspicions. His trust in her remains incomplete. Even with Mubashira, who has made efforts to temper her persistent ego, he continues to have frequent outbursts.

Or is it a sacrifice, Mubashira will have to make and suffer through to save her marriage? Or actually she just might be successful in this new strategy of hers? Save herself from society’s wrath of judgements? Further in the hopes that maybe, just maybe Zaid will in turn start viewing Ayra in a negative light and turn back to Mubashira and fall in love with her when he sees how much she has changed?
