Venturing into the digital space, she has left an impact with compelling roles in web series such as “Ek Jhooti Love Story” and “Mind Games.” Currently, she continues to sweep audiences, now in the role of Amber in the captivating series “22 Qadam,” showcasing her versatile acting prowess.
Before rising to stardom, she even ventured into designing clothes with her sister who is a PIFD graduate. She revealed she used to save up and then travel and she loves travelling.
Kinza Razzak is a rising star in the Pakistani entertainment industry, captivating audiences with her natural charm and versatile acting skills. Here’s a glimpse into her journey:
Her Childhood & Army Life
She says her father was in the Army, she was born in Rawalpindi and lived in Karachi for 4 years, even in Bhawal Nagar, Murree, Azad Kashmir and then finally settled in Lahore. Most of her schooling is done from Beacon House, later Lahore Grammar and with an undergrad in marketing and media studies from Lahore School Of Economics.
One thing she feels that lacks in the industry in general, is discipline and the value of time. “Yahan pay discipline ke kami hai, agar har banda apna kaam agar achay say karay, I feel hum bohat time save karsaktay hain and as a team bohat acha kaam karsaktay hain.”
She also feels people think she has an attitude, which couldn’t be further from the truth. (We attest) “Mai itna ghulti milti nae hou, logo ko lagta hai attitude hai but attitude nae hai, it’s just that mujhay nae pata kay doosray banday ke space kya hai. People used to spot that, kay shes an army kid. I would ask people apko kaisay pata lga? Tou they would say apka rawaiya, discipline, tehzeeb, tameez, tou I have always taken it as a compliment.”
Her Journey Into Dramas
How she got her first drama? She says she was just casually showing her dubsmash to Hareem Farooq (her childhood friend) who went like, “Kinzu, I think you can do it”
She then sent her dubsmash forward and got an audition 2 months, “I got selected and from there the journey started.”
She says she keeps to herself and doesn’t have many friends from the industry except Zara Noor Abbas and Hareem Farooq “I have friends who are from the industry Like Zara, Hareem but they are my childhood friends, so I don’t have any new friends as such.”
She Believes Marriage Can Wait, Independence Comes First
Kinza’s life motto – “Apko sunni sabki chahye, karni apni chahye. Jo apka dil kehta hai, jis mai app believe kartay hain wo karna chahye.”
“I haven’t taken the pressure of marriage, and it’s also thanks to my parents who never made me feel the pressure of marriage. In the case of my older sisters, they did face some pressure, for example, right after my elder sister’s master’s, she got married at the age of 22. So, I felt that I don’t want to get married yet. And I have to do so much in life. I think that I was able to explain this to my parents on a level. It took time, I have to go through certain discussions. After that they understood that let her do what she wants. Even now they oppose, you know with parents there are disagreements.
But I am very thankful that they never stopped me from doing what I like. Whether it is a hobby of travelling, making clothes or acting – So I have been lucky in this and I feel that girls should be independent because this accomplishment can not be obtained from anything else. When you are earning, when you are being at your best behaviour, learning also, that’s the best thing you can give to yourself.”
How Important It Is That We Get Time To Explore Ourselves In Life
“Aurat pay responsibility zayada hoti hain. Growing up when you know she’s a daughter, she has a different responsibility. She grows up, goes to college, your expectations are different from her. First she is with her siblings, then with her parents. After that, where is her time? Where she has to explore herself. That window is very small. I don’t know if people will agree with me on this but you have to explore yourself. First you are very young, then you do undergrad, you understand, then you go in professional life, you get a job somewhere.
You understand dealing with people, that’s your time, you know and I feel that time should be for self-realization. If you get married during, then you can’t think about yourself, then again you have the responsibility of your husband, his family. I wouldn’t say it is difficult but it becomes a little uneasy. First you are telling your parents to let you do it, give you one chance to prove yourself then comes the husband. Then of course the husband can’t think like the parents. I think do get good life partners but it’s a tough call.”
Real Life Amber?
It was through Hareem, Kinza got the offer to work in 22 Qadam: “she said we would be playing sisters so I got really excited. Bohat log kehtay hain Hareem aur mai bhenay lagtay hain”
“I used to play baseball and softball very well in school, I was a sporty kid I loved playing basketball and cricket and they selected me to go and play in different schools. But I said no because when they told me that I will have to leave the class I said no, Amber agayi meray andar I don’t want to do it. I got the feeling.”
She Is Breaking Toxic Stereotypes & We Are So Glad She Is!
She also made sure to say: “That’s a good thing If I am here, it means people like the dusky complexion. It’s changing I think it’s a huge achievement as It should be. Everybody should get a chance, what beauty standards? I think everyone should get a chance.”
