Abdullahpur Ka Devdas hit fans with a trailer that delivered all the drama. From pouring rain, umbrella and all, to a quick chase, a lovelorn heroine and hints of poetic whispers in college auditoriums – a throwback to young romance. The story then swerves to take on tragic mode, a crazy kind of love and accompanying soundtrack that makes one emote in sync with the characters – sad, intense and deeply poetic.

The story is not new – 2 young friends in love with the same woman. Bilal Abbas Khan aka Fakhar and Raza Talish aka Kashif are both in love with Gulbano aka Sarah Khan. But does she know who’s the real Devdas?
The trailer takes us on a full scale journey through a tragic love story. With Devdas in the title, one would expect tragedy to strike anytime, all the time, and the trailer seems to deliver on that score. Misunderstandings and misplaced identities seem to form the crux of the story and while it could be argued that too much has been revealed in the trailer, one is still curious to know the eventual outcome.
Will Fakhar finally get his Gulbano and will she realize the true identity of the poet whose words and thoughts she is unknowingly in love with or, will the story wrap up in true tragic style? Then again, will audiences land a surprise by tying up the historically tragic Devdas’ chronicles on an unexpected happy note?

Sarah Khan as Gulbano shines on screen. Her calm, and then later ruffled emotions portray a notable transition as love changes the person she is, and the world she lives in. Sarah carries an air of nonchalant royalty onscreen, the “pari” that descends on Abdullahpur, and Bilal Abbas Khan as Fakhar wears a deeply melancholic feel. Bilal delivers it on-point. Devdas personified in the modern day era swings between angry young man feels, to sacrificing all for love and emoting an intensely tangible pain onscreen. The ensemble cast includes Srha Asgr, announcing an annual literary festival at the college and inviting the poet in question – Abdullahpur Ka Devdas to take the stage … wait for it, Kashif comes on to take the mic and there unfolds the saga..
Cut to Abdullah in prison, presumably on murder charges (for killing his own identity?), fleeting images of Gulbano in deep despair, a train station, accompanied by choice dialogues that move the story along. Naumaan Ijaz’s character utters ominously:

The dialogue gives hope to fans of a “happily ever after” that maybe, this time, Devdas just might deliver a happy ending?
The drama plans to deliver a musical journey and the latest soundtrack, ‘Biba Sada Dil Morr De’ by Zain Ali, Zuhaib Ali, Sami Khan, Iqra Manzoor and lyrics (recreated) by Sami Khan plays halfway through the trailer and adds character to a neo-vintage tale.
The frames are gripping, scenes carry an earthy feel, adding atmosphere, a period feel and old world charm to the story.
Abdullahpur Ka Devdas is a modern twist to the age-old tale. But will the ending be the same old or give us a modern take on the Devdas narrative? Fans are super excited and wait for February 26th to step inside a story that promises drama, emotions and a love story that promises to take fans on a journey of love, loss or perhaps, triumph?
Abdullahpur Ka Devdas also promises to bring to you, soul-stirring melodies, which include tracks like ‘Biba Sada Dil Morr De’ by Zain Ali, Zuhaib Ali, Sami Khan, Iqra Manzoor and lyrics (recreated) by Sami Khan and ‘Oh Sahib’ by Adnan Dhool, Zain & Zohaib and lyrics by Asim Raza enriching the storytelling with a melodic touch. Apart from its release on Zindagi, the channel is also working on its release in Pakistan and is currently in discussions with various platforms to make it available for the Pakistani audience.
Abdullahpur Ka Devdas has been scripted by Shahid Dogar and directed by Anjum Shahzad. The cast features Bilal Abbas Khan and Sarah Khan as leads along with Raza Talish, Naumaan Ijaz, Srha Asgr and an experienced ensemble cast.
