As headlines circulate about Will Smith sharing his experience of reading the Quran, here’s more on that, along with two other stars who have also shared their experiences of reading the Quran.

Major Hollywood actor, comedian, producer, rapper and songwriter, Will Smith recently visited Saudi Arabia and was featured on the Big Time Podcast by Egyptian journalist Amr Adeeb. During the podcast, he shared insights into his personal spiritual journey, his profound appreciation for the Quran, and the significant impact it has had on his life. Smith even revealed that he had read the Muslim holy book “cover to cover” last Ramadan.
What The Experience Opened His Eyes To
Smith opened up, stating, “The last two years of my life have been a difficult time and my intention turned inward and I read all the holy books, I’ve read the Quran cover to cover during Ramazan this year. This is the spiritual seeking phase of my life.” referencing to the headlines he made, for slapping Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars two years ago, he said he returned to spirituality to deal with the challenges he experienced.
He further shared, “I was shocked how much Moses was mentioned. Through the Quran, I’ve related to Moses and [his] experience.” The actor went on to say, “I love the simplicity of the Quran. It’s so clear. It’s crystal clear. It’s hard to walk away with a misunderstanding,” further adding, “The spirit of it was so beautiful and clear.”
“I loved the simplicity; the Quran is so clear; it is crystal clear. It is hard to walk away with misunderstanding,” Smith told Egyptian journalist Amr Adeeb on Big Time Podcast.
Will Smith also pointed out how feels surprised to see the similarities between the holy books of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. “I was surprised how it is like one story, from the Torah through the Bible and into the Quran. I never totally understood Abraham as the father and then the split with Isaac and Ishmael and it was beautiful to get the completion of that comprehension.”
It’s a profound message within the context of Ramadan itself. Over the years, many public figures, both anticipated and unexpected, have openly shared their experiences of reading the Quran and gaining insights from it. Today, we reveal two more stars whose connection to this sacred text may surprise you.
Amitabh Bachan
Did you know Amitabh Bachan too has read the Quran? Years ago he shared on his Twitter (now, X) account how a user had “asked me to read the Koran, for peace and tranquility, for the essence of life.. I did..”
The Bollywood superstar had even posted a few verses a couple times from the holy book: “God changes not what is in a people, until they change what is in themselves ” Koran ( 7th century ), Sura 13, v. 11”
Though, he was called out to have used the wrong spelling and he was extremely respectful, owned up to his mistake and corrected himself. “Correction: QURAN and not KORAN!… however the book I was reading from had it as KORAN so I mentioned it so..apologies!!” the star wrote.
Morgan Freeman
Not only did the Hollywood star was present at the Qatar World Cup, he even stood by in respect and listened to the recitation of the Holy Quran on stage. but he has even been reported to have said: “For Muslims, the Qur’an is the holy revelation of God’s word. The very existence of the words of the Qur’an is proof of god. Drawing these words has become a high form of art – a way to invoke the presence of God and all who gaze at them. No matter which language they speak.”
