Zamdaa AKA Durefishan Saleem Shares Why Khaie Was Special & Writes A Heartfelt Message For Cast & Crew!

If Khaie dominated a good chunk of your screen time these past few months, then we imagine you’re still in the “Khaie” trance. The last episode aired on Wednesday night, and the industry, fans, and it seems like the cast too, are still buzzing with the success of the drama. Khaie has received immense praise and garnered a huge viewership. The word of mouth this drama has achieved is honestly not surprising because it was a great effort, pulled off well, and a drama that gave us hope for a direction steered away from the run-of-the-mill, damsel-in-distress, young love storylines.

Saqlain Abbas is the credited writer for the drama, Khaie and it is directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain. Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi take on the role of producers under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment. The ensemble cast features prominent actors such as Faysal Quraishi portraying Channar Khan, Durefishan Saleem as Zamda, Khalid Butt as Duraab Khan, Noor ul Hassan as Darwesh, Uzma Hassan as Gul Wareen, Laila Wasti as Bareera, Osama Tahir as Badal, Shuja Asad as Barlas, Mah-e-Nur Haider as Apana, Shamyl Khan as Gulab Khan, Hina Bayat as Bakhtawar, Saba Faisal as Husn Bano, Javed Jamal as Badshah Khan, Nabeel Zuberi as Pamir, and Hassan Noman as Shanawar.

We’ve just penned a piece on why Zamdaa was the character, the heroine who stole the show for us in “Khaie.” Check it out to see if we’re on the same page. But until then, did you know that the actress, the woman of the hour herself, Durefishan Saleem, shared a dedicated post, thanking the entire cast of the hit show, Khaie? As she bid farewell to her character, Zamdaa, and the chapter of “Khaie,” she reminisced, sharing some cherished memories, particularly what made the project stand out and how each of her fellow actors contributed to its success.

Humble At Heart

She began by humbly sharing: “I always say I am not deserving of most of the things I get in life, but someone, somewhere always keeps telling me that we deserve all we get.”

She revealed how she shot Khaie post an accident after which she could barely move her back and shoulders but much to her surprise, the drama brought her strength she didn’t know she had. “Shot Khaie post my accident, could hardly move my back and shoulder – today when I look back, I am unable to understand the strength I had – the same girl who can’t move out of her bed post a slight stomach ache shot one of the most physically challenging roles of her life making me again the biggest believer of the fact that when you leave everything on ALLAH, He holds you even when everyone around would want you to fall.”

Her fans would be amazed to find out she actually shot two of her biggest hits side by side.

“Khaie came to me 2 years before. We were planning to go on floor and the floods happened, cut to Khaie happening while I was shooting Ishq Murshid and the dates were crazy. 15 days in Karachi 15 days in Skardu.”

She continued to write from her heart, expressing gratitude to each of the team members—from the directors and producers to her fellow cast members—for their contributions to her character, the memories they created, and what she’s thankful to them for:

1. Khaie Producers, Abdullah Kadwani & Asad Qureshi

“I wouldn’t have done this for any other drama than Khaie, which is all because of the producers like Abdullah bhai and Asad bhai who can produce something as grand as this without compromising on production value. ????”

2. Her Director, Wajahat Hussain

“Wajahat bhai, I say it many times and I’ll say it again, NO one could have done justice to this script but you and no one could have made me do Zamdaa like you????”

3. Her Channar Khana, Faysal Qureshi

“To my Channar Khana, Faysal bhai, thank you for letting me be Zamdaa without ever telling me how to be Zamdaa. Your craft shines because of the human you are.”

4. The Late Khalid Butt, AKA Duraab Khan

“To Duraab baba up there looking at all of us with all the pride, this is your Khaie and will be yours always.”

5. Laila Wasti, Bareera – Her Support

“To my Laila jee from Dilruba to Khaie as we say, thank you for being my mama and for always looking out for me or my motion sickness.”

6. Uzma Hassan, Gul Wareen – Her Enemy In The Drama But A Friend She Found IRL

“To my Gul Wareen, I found a friend who used to hug me every time I needed one without asking me what’s wrong. I love you. “

7. Her ‘Bro Clan’ Shuja Asad (Barlas), Osama (Badal) & Mahe (Apana)

“To my bro clan Shuja, Osama, Mahe – to ludo nights and to fail food plans, couldn’t have asked for better company in the mountains.”

8. Most Importantly, Her Team!

“To my team who deserve the most applause, Amir bhai for handling logistics like a pro. Making sure we are accommodated, be it our food or garam pani or rooms with the best view. Yash and Shella baji for making us all look like this. To Jamil for being the best DOP I have ever come across in Pakistan and to Tehseen for making sure we stay on the schedule chahaa andhiii ho ya taufaaan.”
