This serves as a reminder that Pakistan is also experiencing a severe heatwave, stressing the importance of staying adequately hydrated. The hospitalization of Shah Rukh Khan due to heatstroke highlights the serious health risks associated with extreme heat.
The Meteorological Department has warned several regions, including Umarkot, Larkana, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Sukkur, Naudero, Nawabshah, and Multan. The plains of Sindh and Punjab are particularly affected, with temperatures expected to be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius higher than usual. From May 23 to 27, these temperatures are anticipated to rise even further, reaching 6 to 8 degrees Celsius above average.
Islamabad and its surrounding areas are also expected to experience extremely hot and dry weather, exacerbating the overall situation.
To stay hydrated during this heatwave:
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
- Avoid caffeinated or sugary drinks, which can contribute to dehydration.
- Eat hydrating foods like fruits and vegetables, such as watermelon, cucumbers, and oranges
