Panic gripped Karachi today as news broke of the brazen daylight kidnapping of Zulfiqar Ahmed, the owner of Paracha Textiles, Meezan Oil, and the rapidly growing Cola Next.

Karachi, Pakistan – A wave of shock has rippled through the business community as reports of the kidnapping of Zulfiqar Ahmed, a prominent figure in Pakistan’s industrial landscape, surfaced. Ahmed, the owner of Paracha Textiles, Meezan Oil, and the rapidly growing beverage company Cola Next, was abducted on Tuesday at Mauripur Road in Keamari, Karachi. According to family sources, the incident occurred when masked gunmen forcibly took Ahmed and his partner, Qaiser, at gunpoint. The abductors bundled the duo into a double cabin vehicle and fled the scene. However, Qaiser was later released, Zulfiqar Ahmed remains missing.
A High-Profile Disappearance
Zulfiqar Ahmed, a well-respected businessman, has built a substantial empire across various sectors. Paracha Textiles, a leading player in the textile industry, is renowned for its high-quality fabrics. Meezan Oil has established a significant presence in the oil and lubricants market. However, it is Cola Next that has captured the nation’s attention in recent times. Cola Next, a local beverage brand, has witnessed a meteoric rise in popularity, particularly after the boycott of international products by many Pakistanis. Moreover, the brand has successfully positioned itself as a patriotic alternative, offering a range of carbonated drinks and juices. Its rapid growth and market share have made it a formidable competitor in the beverage industry.
Investigation Underway
The Karachi police have registered a case and formed a special investigation team to trace the whereabouts of the abducted businessman. While initial investigations are underway, no concrete leads have emerged so far. Ahmed’s wife has filed a petition in the Sindh High Court seeking the whereabouts of her husband. She claims to have approached multiple law enforcement agencies but has met with little progress. The family fears for Ahmed’s life and has accused authorities of inaction.
The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the interior ministry, provincial home department, and the inspector general of police in response to the petition. The court has also summoned the SHO of the Kalri police station to appear in person. Thus, the business community also expressed deep concern over the incident, highlighting the growing insecurity faced by entrepreneurs in the country.
