It is a week in dramas where some stories are gradually closing the curtain on some intense storytelling, and others have just got into the “emotionally invested for viewers” stage. But one thing’s for sure, whether you’re a casual Pakistani drama fan or a jazbaati viewer, there’s no way you can’t have an opinion on the dramas that made it to our list this week!

So let’s start in no particular order…
Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum has pushed Sharjeena and Mustafa into next level relationship mode

I promise you I didn’t say let’s start with the best, or the top, but Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum seems to be on my mind all week and the soundtrack is just pure love. Have you ever wondered how a drama’s OST takes on special significance as the story throws us into viral mode?
Oh well I’m listening in to Chal Diye and my family might have had enough of it, but that’s not stopping me from being totally hung up on Mustafa and Sharjeena’s saga, Rubab and Adeel’s drama and a mother in-law that is giving serious competition to Noor Jahan, albeit only in toxic terms.
KMKT has pushed Sharjeena and Mustafa into next level relationship mode, and sometimes, it takes adversity for a couple to draw closer to each other? What say you? One major disagreement at the beginning of the marriage can do wonders for the future of the relationship.
On a directorial and performance standpoint, both couples outdid themselves in the family “combat’ scene. Very well played there. Rubab poking, bullying, nudging Sharjeena to respond, Mustafa sticking up for his wife, and then, Adeel, dear Adeel, his mouth wide open when Sharjeena pulls him down a peg or two indirectly by noting that he is, after all Rubab’s minion, for all the money she flaunts. Oops, that hurt!
Noor Bano serves an innings defeat to Noor Jahan?

Has Noor Bano played the final round? Is she about to complete the circle of revenge? That late reveal about who pulled the trigger just elevated NB’s game to a whole new level. But what sets her apart from ordinary villains is her sensitivity and humanity for Sumbul and Safeena. She makes Hunaid realize the power of a daughter and the father-daughter bond that he snatched away from her.
One wonders if she will be able to forgive Murad for what he did to her father, and if she does, is she even being the loyal daughter she should be? NB is no doubt, in love with Murad, yet fully aware of his participation in her father’s attack – which way will she lean eventually? There’s no clear winner here, but Noor Bano has already won our hearts for the sharp strategizing and heartfelt decisions.
Zard Patton Ka Bunn: Meenu, the brave-heart pays for her courage in love

Oh dear Meenu, you were brave enough to give your heart away, but now you have to face the consequences of love. Dr. Nofil wins hearts as he cries his heart out over the phone, feeling Meenu’s pain and admits to his own feelings for her.
ZPKB scores points on delivering male characters who are endearing, communicative fathers, never dismissing a woman’s emotions. Afzal Chacha too, respects Meenu’s feelings for Dr. Nofil and we question once more why a young girl must have to forsake her honour if she allows her heart to fall for someone.
Gentleman: Remembering Dilbar and homicidal therapy trap?

Munna is a lost soul planning a hit list. Zarnab is buried deep in guilt, was that the first signs of fear we spot in Faaris’ eyes and poor Rehmati is about to chain himself to his bed! (that was amusing, you gotta admit)
The episode delivered a moving look-back at Dilbar. Munna is on another mission now, but we wonder if therapists actually advise patients to kill people in order to heal them? Did we get that right? Help us out here!
Mann Jogi: Romancing over groceries, food, electrical wiring and singing!

Oh the intense relationship that is unravelling between Aliya and Ibrahim is so endearing to watch. Him appreciating her aaloo palak, and she teaching him about electrical wiring.
But what took it away was the way our self-assured Aliya broke down when she thought she’d lost Ibrahim, taking their relationship to the next level. Then Aliya offering her hand to him after listening to his mother’s story, and finally, the singing and humming, playful bordering on flirtatious was just love!
Oh we forgot about Shabbir, because, hmm, actually, no one cares… till he finds them! That is fear factor #1 we hope never happens!
Bismil: Poor, ambitious, scheming girl traps rich boss

Sooo, Bismil delivered some very problematic dialogues on ageism, women vs men, and Tauqeer mian, our so far non toxic hero turned into a misogynistic mouthpiece, we kid you not.
“Tumse Aik Larki nahi sambhali jaati” -a Tauqeer to Moosa, father to son, was a absolutely regressive, and unnecessary dialogue, earning multiple thumbs down. Also, if it had been uttered by a character who had the germs, we could have digested it better?
Is there more to Bismil than ambitious, scheming, poor girl traps rich boss? (And second marriage on the cards).
Last but not the least is our action hero and heroine in Ishq Hua
Ishq Hua: Less Drama, More Action Would Make The Promos Come True

It has become critical that dramas now stay true to the promos they show online before launching the project. Ishq Hua promised loads of action, but we’re yet to see the real thing.
Tabrez disappearing from Bahaar’s side was a bit predictable but him taking thing sin slo-mo in Minsa’s room when they should have been leaping across roofs, James Bond style, really slowed the pace. Please pick up on the action guys, we can’t wait for the chase, because that’s what you promised us.
Question: Do you think Daas was involved in Tabrez’s elopement plan? Drop us a comment.
And that’s it folks, The Week In Drams is a wrap! Drop us a comment below to tell us which one is winning the week for you, and which one just dropped a few levels below?
