The new drama serial Dastak is riddled with problems. Amidst all the chaos, there is only one character who is on the right path—Kabir Mamu!

Dramas may mirror society, but some characters go beyond that—they become people we admire, learn from, and wish we had in real life. It’s not just about the way they look or how well the actor plays them; it’s about the values they represent. Some characters stand out because they stay firm in their morals, make the right choices in tough situations, and offer wisdom when others lose their way. They give us a sense of comfort, reminding us that goodness, intelligence, and emotional strength still matter. Along with them, certain dialogues stick with us long after the credits roll—words that make us reflect, smile, or even push us to be better.

One such character in the currently airing drama Dastak is Kabir Mamu, played by Sohail Sameer. Amidst all the chaos, he remains the voice of reason, making us wish for someone like him in our own lives—someone who stands strong, speaks wisely, and brings clarity when everything else feels uncertain.

We are literally binge-watching Dastak for Kabir Mamu—at least for now! In the middle of all the chaos, he’s the only one making sense, and we’re totally here for it. And let’s talk about his dialogues—some of them are just too good to be true! The kind that make you pause, rewind, and hear them again because they just hit differently.

We got in touch with Sohail Sameer to find out why he took on this role that audiences are rooting for. From his favorite dialogue to what makes Kabir Mamu stand out, he shared it all!

Why Sohail Sameer Said Yes To The Character?

Sohail Sameer: “When I read the script for the first time, I felt that this is closest to my own character.”

“Jab meri pehli baar Marina ji se mulaqat hui, jab mujhe script share kia gaya, aur jab main ne script parha, mujhe ye laga kay ye shayad mera hi character hai. Main normal life mein aesa hi hoon, aesa hi sochta hoon, aur main chahta hoon kay zindagi main logon ko aesa hi hona chahye, natural. Apnay experiences, chahe acha experience ho ya bura experience ho, ussay khud bhi faeda uthaen, aur dusron kay liye bhi helpful houn tou mujhe ye character bohat hit kiya, mujhe laga ye main hi hoon … “

He went on to elaborate, clearly passionate about the role (and so are we):

“After quite some time, I finally got a character that clicked with me… I perform many other characters, but this one carries a message, creating awareness among the audiences.” Giving credit to the writer, he continued to say: “The dialogues are written very well, and at times both Marina Khan and I improvised too.”

“Bohat arse kay baad koi aesa character nahi tha jo ke mujhe click karraha ho, jisme message ho. Hamare plays me ab message us tarah se nahi hotay logon ko batane ke liye, unko convince karne ke liye, jo ke ek time per hamare har play mein hotay thay. Tou jab ye script main ne parha, mujhe bohat acha laga. Aur bhi bohat sare plays karraha hoon, characters normal life mein exist karte bhi hain aur nahin bhi, but this was the character which had a message. Jisme ap har ek insan ko batana chahrahe hain, apni audience ko aware karrahe hain, ye cheez mujhe bohat achi lagi. Dialogues bohat ache likhe huye thay, kuch Marina ji ne or main ne mil kay improvise bhi kiye hein, kuch lines hain aesi jo humne khud add kin, lekin overall, writer ne bohat acha script likha hua tha.”

And on that note, we had to ask, so what was your favourite dialogue from Dastak’s Kabir Mamu?

Sohail Sameer’s Favorite Dialogue From The Character So Far?

Tameez ke daairay mein reh kay apni baat ka izhaar karna koi badtameezi nahi hoti.

Sohail Sameer As Kabeer

“Kya achi baat hai! Exclaims Sohail Sameer.

“This is a dialogue that we can apply in our everyday lives; with family, friends, there is nothing wrong with it. The other person will understand what you mean and you will also not feel suffocated because you would have expressed your point of view.”

“Ye dialogue aesa hai kay: baat karne ka andaaz talkh hota hai, baat talkh nahi hoti. Tou ye jo line thi bari depth kay sath thi, ye mujhe bohat achi lagi. Ye ek aesa dialogue hai jo agar hum aam, roz mar’ra zindagi mein bhi apply karein, apnay ghar mein, apni family mein, apne doston mein, tou koi buri baat nahi hai. Dusre ko baat bhi samajh ajaegi, aur ap apne aap mein ghutengy bhi nahi.”

And with the first dialogue coming from the actor himself, we go on to give you 7 more times Kabir Mamu dropped truth bombs we wish more people heard!

Bhanji, degree mukammal karne kay bad na, tumhein job karni chahye thi.

Kabir Mamu’s words hit hard because they reflect a mindset we rarely see in dramas—one that values a woman’s independence and career rather than pushing outdated expectations.

Biwi mulaazma nahi hoti hai, saathi hoti hai.

Again, Kabir Mamu reminds us what marriage really is—you can make chai yourself! You don’t need to bring a wife just to do house chores; marriage is about partnership, not servitude. This is exactly the kind of message we want to see more in dramas!

Maa baap apni khushi or itmenaan ka hawwa iss qadar bithha dete hain kay betiyaan seham si jaati hain, dar si jaati hain, kuch keh nahi patin.

Sohail Sameer As Kabir In Dastak

Kabir Mamu points out a harsh truth we often overlook. Parents, in their effort to seek comfort in their decisions, sometimes forget how much pressure they put on their daughters.

Hamara qusoor hai, jo beti ko rukhsat karte waqt apni arzo, umeedon aur rasm o riwaj ka itna bojh dal detey hain na kay uskay neechay dab kar wo ye bhool jati hai kay wo kya hai, uski salahiyat kya hai, magar tum khudko mat bhoolna.

This is the lesson every parent should give their daughter when she gets married—not just to serve her in-laws or keep everyone happy at her own expense.

Zulm aur ziyadti kay khilaf awaz uthana tumhara haq hai, usay sehna tumhara farz thori hai. Saif se darna band karo yaar, ghalat baat ka ehsaas dilana ghalati nahi hai.

Sohail Sameer As Kabir In Dastak

Society, and often even our own parents, teach women to stay silent in front of their husbands as if he is somehow above them. But Kabir Mamu knows better. He knows that raising your voice against injustice is a right, not a mistake—even if it’s your husband in the wrong.

Tumhari shadi ki hai kisi ki ghulami mein thori diya hai.

Sohail Sameer As Kabir In Dastak

Kabir Mamu once again says what so many need to hear. Marriage isn’t slavery—it’s a partnership. Yet, society often hands over a woman, expecting her to serve her husband and his family without question.

Sab aurat hi karti hai, iss mard kay bhi koi faraiz hain ya nahi? Shadi sirf aurat tou nahi karti, mard bhi tou karta hai. Esar, sabar or qurbani se usay bhi tou ye rishta nibhana hai ya nahi?

Sohail Sameer As Kabir In Dastak

Finally, someone said it! Why is it always the woman’s job to make a marriage work? Why does no one ever ask men about their responsibilities? It’s about time dramas start asking these questions instead of putting all the pressure on women.

Kabir Mamu’s dialogues stand out because they express everything we’ve been wanting to hear on our screens. Kabir Mamu doesn’t just share life lessons; he challenges outdated societal norms that many blindly follow without questioning their fairness. From reminding women that marriage isn’t servitude to calling out the unfair expectations placed on them, his words feel revolutionary. Let’s be honest—how often do we see a male character in dramas advocating for women’s rights without making it seem like charity? In so many ways, Kabir Mamu speaks on behalf of the audience, saying the things we wish more people started incorporating in their lives.
