About an hour ago Indian government confirmed it had launched air strikes on nine locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, under a military operation named Sindoor. The strikes, India claimed, targeted “terrorist infrastructure” believed to be behind last month’s deadly attack on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir.

According to the Indian statement, the operation was “focused, measured and non-escalatory,” with no Pakistani military installations hit. The Indian government maintained it had exercised “considerable restraint.”
Pakistan’s military confirmed the strikes, stating that three locations—Muzaffarabad, Kotli (both in Azad Jammu and Kashmir), and Bahawalpur—were targeted by Indian missiles. Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, spokesperson for the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), spoke on national television, confirming the attacks and sharing initial assessments.
Pakistan Launches Counter-Operation
In response, Pakistan has initiated its own counter-operation. The ISPR confirmed ongoing military action and reported that five Indian fighter jets have been shot down during the engagement as reported by DAWN News. It is claimed by Degense Minister Khwaja Asif on an interview with Bloomberg that Pakistani authorities have also taken some Indian army soldiers as prisoners, but this news is yet to be confirmed by independent news media. No official confirmation has been made yet by India regarding the downed aircrafts.
The situation remains volatile, with fears of further escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. Both sides have a long history of conflict over Kashmir, a region claimed in full by both but divided by a heavily militarized Line of Control (LoC). Decades of insurgency and military confrontation have left thousands dead and regional peace in constant jeopardy.
Indeed, wrecking multiple cities in Pakistan is a sign of how unhinged the country has become following Israel’s flagrant contempt for international law and diplomacy. To date, they have provided zero evidence to substantiate, making them a rogue actor

Trump’s Response
It’s a shame, we just heard about it, just as we were walking in the doors of the oval. I guess people know something was going to happen, based on little bit of the past. They’ve been fighting for a long time, you know. They’ve been fighting for many, many decades, and centuries actually if you think about it… I just hope it ends very quickly

Background
The tragic attack in Pahalgam claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists, shaking the region and drawing widespread condemnation. The Resistance Front (TRF), a militant group that Indian officials believe is linked to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), took responsibility. While TRF may sound like a new name, it surfaced in 2019 and has been associated with several violent incidents since, operating under aliases like “Kashmir Resistance.” Though Pakistan has denied involvement, Indian intelligence maintains that such outfits are used to carry out cross-border terrorism while maintaining plausible deniability. The incident has reignited tensions between India and Pakistan, both diplomatically and emotionally.
