Meri Zindagi Hai Tu: The Week That Was

This week, we loved the sister bonding and Ayra’s best friend trying her best to get her out of trouble. Kamyaar’s consistent stalking and refusal to take no for an answer are finally bearing fruit, with Ayra not only developing feelings for him but also missing him.

Ayra did feel ignored when Kamyaar simply walked past her in the old home. It affected her mood, her heart, and her mind, not just in that moment, but for a long time afterward as well. The drama does confirm that love-bombing is hard to resist, and girls do fall for it, just like Ayra did. Maybe Ayra proves that all of us have an innate need to be loved intensely and to feel irresistible. That feeling can be intoxicating for anyone.

We loved the dinner scene between Ayra and Falak, where Ayra finally admits her feelings. Although in the end she again acts a bit delusional and says, “Oh, I just needed to say it out loud, it’s done now,” both Falak and the audience know that this isn’t true. What a luxury it is to have someone in your life with whom you can talk without feeling judged, and that’s exactly what we saw between Falak and Ayra.

Ayra hitting Faria like crazy was honestly so much fun to watch, because we all felt like doing the same after Faria’s nonstop harassment. You could tell within the first few seconds that this was something Ayra had been dreaming of doing. Both actresses performed the scene really well.

We do wish Kamyaar had scolded Faria or stopped her when she accused Ayra of following him outside the restaurant.

Naveen reminded many of us of our college days, doing ridiculous things for our best friend to get her out of a difficult situation or closer to her crush. That said, it’s hard to forget that Kamyaar is still a work in progress and has done some questionable things in the past. We liked how the writer connected the old-age home, Kamyaar, and Ayra through Naveen and Ayra’s professor. Watching Naveen lose her cool in front of Kamyaar was a fun scene.

Kamyaar’s strategy of not letting Ayra know that he’s the one who convinced her professor to give her another chance will likely work in his favor. Eventually, when she finds out, it will only make him a bigger hero in her eyes.

The drama finally seemed to take a better turn, but then slipped again with a really silly twist — Kamyaar pretending to be the son of the professor’s wife’s friend. It almost felt like the drama was telling the audience, “Please don’t think, just be dumb and watch.” At the very least, the writers could have come up with a more believable excuse. How does the woman not remember her own friend’s name, not ask questions, and get so easily distracted? On top of that, she lets Kamyaar enter her house just because he shows up with flowers and flirts a little.

As if Kamyaar wasn’t enough, the drama then introduces Khawar — another questionable and rather silly character. He tries to show off his financial status and talks about bitcoins to impress a girl at a wedding. How does he automatically assume that Ayra will marry him? When he meets her at her house, he is completely full of himself.

We would have expected a character who is cast as a prospective for Ayra to be slightly more ‘with it’ and certainly more socially savvy. What do you think?
