Khush Naseebi, currently airing on GEO, is one such drama that blends both old-school romance with bits of Gen Z energy. It complements both sides of the audience very well, and that is the reason why it is being so well received. We got the opportunity to sit down with the people who brought Narmeen and Humayun to life, Tuba Anwar and Osama Tahir. Read on for a conversation for the Khush Naseebi fan in you!

Osama Tahir & Tuba Anwar aka Narmeen & Humayun, Show Us How Opposites Attract In Khush Naseebi

Khush Naseebi has already said a lot through its name. In the drama, we see how we make plans with our whole heart, but life doesn’t always go the way we expect. And somehow, those unexpected turns end up becoming our “Khush Naseebi”. It’s really about how what we once thought didn’t work out actually becomes the very thing that brings us joy.

What makes Khush Naseebi stand out is how completely opposite Humayun and Narmeen are from each other. Humayun is quiet, a little insecure, someone who doesn’t express himself much and often keeps things inside, while Narmeen is confident, outspoken, and very sure of herself. She says what she feels without hesitation and carries a strong sense of self in every situation.

Now, this opposites-attract formula has been explored on TV many times before, and it usually does work – but what makes this one feel different is the way it has been set up and presented. The world they exist in, the way they are brought together, and how their journey unfolds feels fresh and not forced. Even the way they react to situations, and how they eventually end up getting married, has its own flow that doesn’t feel like a typical setup we’ve seen before.

Seeing two such different personalities navigate life and relationships in their own ways is what makes their dynamic so engaging. And naturally, it made us curious—we had to ask them what made them say yes to Khush Naseebi and these characters in the first place.

Why Did Tuba & Osama Say Yes To Khush Naseebi?

We were curious to know what really made them say yes to Khush Naseebi and these characters, so we asked them just that.

Tuba shared that for her, it all started with the narration. She told us, “Initially when I got the character pitch, I was told that about the nature of the character.” And that instantly made her more interested. But she didn’t want to rely just on the narration. “I always think that whatever I sign, I should read it… because everyone perceives narration in their own way.”

So she asked for the script – and that’s when things really clicked. “When I started reading it, I really enjoyed it because it was a fun character.” She also pointed out how different it felt from her previous work. “The dramas I’ve done before were very emotionally intense, but her shades were very different. It was funny, she’s a very dominant girl, she says what she wants, she stands by her words.”

What she loved most was that the character wasn’t typical. “She’s not negative. She’s a little selfish, a little self-centered, but not negative. She just says whatever comes to her mind.” That freshness is what pulled her in. “I thought this is something different. It will be fun to do and different to perform.”

And it wasn’t just her own role that convinced her. “I thought the track, the story, the journey is very interesting. Usually we don’t see such kind of tracks in dramas.” She especially enjoyed the dynamic between the characters and how it unfolds. And that’s when she knew – “Okay, I should do this.”

Osama had a very similar experience. He told us that when he first heard about the role, it sounded interesting but a bit layered. “They gave a brief that he is a nice person, but he is also a bit insecure… and a very helpless person.” Someone who doesn’t really stand up for himself or his love.

But like Tuba, he also felt that reading the script was key. “There are some things you only understand when you read it – you won’t get it otherwise.” And once he started, he couldn’t stop. “I read the entire script till episode 12… I just kept reading.”

There were certain moments that really stood out. He recalled a line in particular: “Humayun says, ‘Life has taken a lot of tests, I never even got 33 out of 100, so how can I smile?’”

For him, that line said everything. “That was such an excellent insight… he feels like he’s never achieved anything, never been enough.” And yet, despite all that, the character holds on to his values. “How are you so insecure about your life and still righteous? His morality was strong – that whatever happened with me, doesn’t mean I become a bad person.”

That emotional depth is what really fascinated him – and ultimately made him say yes.

On All The Love Coming Their Way

We also asked them about their fan moments so far and how the audience has been responding to Humayun and Narmeen – and the answer was all smiles.

Tuba shared that the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. “I am getting a lot of good feedback,” she said. Since they’re still shooting, she hasn’t had many chances to step out and experience it publicly, but the response from people around her has been very reassuring. “Family, friends, friends of friends – everybody is enjoying it.”

She added that viewers are really connecting with how the story is unfolding. “They love how the characters are developing at the moment. They love how the story is progressing.”

And of course, the chemistry hasn’t gone unnoticed. “They are loving the banter. They really enjoy it,” said Osama.

He also shared a fun little moment from home. “There was a party at my house, and I had just come back from the set. All the aunties were like, ‘Hi Humayun!’” he laughed. “They said, ‘We love it. Narmeen is awesome, Humayun is awesome – everything is awesome.’”

Naturally, his family had a lot to say too. “My family was obviously talking more about my character… and they seem to love it.”

At the same time, he acknowledged that not everyone is very vocal. “There are people who are okay with not really sharing how they feel about it,” he added – but overall, the love coming in has been strong and steady.
