The Twitter War That Trolls the Trolls

Yehi toh rona hai.. keh Allah ki laathi beawaaz hai. Awaaz aani chahiye laathi ki. – @TheMahiraKhan

When Mahira Khan tweeted this, little did she know that a troll would pick up her Twitter post to let loose her inner wrath on Mahira’s character, and that too, laden with colorful vocabulary.

If you haven’t read the tweet, and Mahira’s reply yet:

Aap jaisi kxxxx ko dramon may high rank fauji officers dilwatay han… isi lianamak halali karti ho warna aap jaisi 2 takay ki mjura karnay walon ki kia haisat hay.. Muashiray may … @MomalFayax

To which Mahira replied:

Aap ki zehniat aap ke lafzon mein saaf nazar aati hai. Meri kamai halal ki hai, warna aap ko achay school bhejnay ka zima mein uthati! Jahan tak baat rahi 2 takay ki.. hum jaisi auretein apney aap par qeemat nahi lagati, na hi kisi aur insaan par

And then came the real trolling:

One fan said it like it is:

Well I seriously want to tell you what you are.. But the problem is my parents make sure that I respect others unlike you. MAHIRA KHAN IS NOT JUST AN ACTRESS. First she is a Pakistani and she has a right to tweet what she think is right and secondly never abuse a mother. – @joker_rabiya

Others were quick to post their disapproval, and disgust:

Your words shows your value and worth @MomalFayax… Which is quite terrible, sign of disappointment and cheap in fact more than that after reading your tweet again – @mehreenaliq

You see Momal, if you choose to use your Twitter finger to write whatever comes into your mind, you have to be prepared for the backlash. I had written earlier about how we need an internet police to control the filth that people utter when they are allowed to comment blatantly, with no censorship, on social media. But now, it is fair to say, that if you spew your filth onto social media, there is an equal and opposite reaction against you, equal to the reaction (if not more) than the original post. (Did I just upturn poor Archimedes’ principle on its head)?

Point being, hate begets hate.

And the Twitter reaction is very organic and … ahem, as they say Allah mian ki laathi mein awaaz nahin hoti. So live with the reaction and learn to suffer in silence. Because, you asked for it.

One Mahira fan suggested a more correctional solution:

Blocking her is not solution. She should be educated how to deal and talk as human being. – @AzizKhan

The people’s court has spoken, and they’re not mincing their words:

… It is futile to argue or even simply futile to talk to such people. Filth can never be recycled or treated – @Uqaili_Shafiq

Then there were others who were not so direct, but praised Mahira for her composure.

Why are you such a queen? – @hajrakn. Our football hero retorted – a queen in her own right.

Actor Shaan Shahid decided to support Mahira on Twitter:

It is my theory, (and I have tested it against facts), that when someone has something mean to say, they will say it out loud. But if they have to defend someone, or say something positive, not every one will speak their minds. This post is for all those who have been quiet. Speak up! And let the Momals of this world know that the Mahira’s of this world are not alone. Today it’s Mahira, tomorrow, it can be you.

Allah Mian ki laathi mein awaaz na ho, lekin logon ki laathi mein buhat awaaz hai … So please exercise the power to free speech. If the haters can do it, so can you.
