It’s no secret that being an artist in Pakistan is a road filled with strife. However, thanks to their gumption, these young artists are winning the hearts of Pakistanis everywhere. Here’s how:
1. Affan Tariq
Affan Tariq is a graffiti artist studying at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. He was influenced to take up graffiti after seeing numerous rap music videos. Their sets, which featured intricate graffiti, awed him. He began by sketching small drawings on A4-sized papers with dollar markers in kindergarten. This progressed into creating specially commissioned pieces for his classmates. These days he can be found colouring up the walls of Karachi and adding his signature flair wherever he goes.

2. Iman Ahmed
Iman Ahmed has already accomplished a great deal and is attempting to inspire her viewers with her artistic talent. Her experience as an artist is motivated by her passion for progress as a student of nature, literature, and politics. She sees visual media as a valuable method for generating new thoughts and stimulating debate. Iman does not confine her work to a collection of laws or boundaries. Her goal is to promote individual expression. While she does commission work such as T-shirt printing, digital collages, and murals, Iman prefers to work with conventional media. We can’t wait to see what Iman has in store for us in the future!
3. Ahwar Nasir
Ahwar is a 20-year-old, Fine Arts student at IVS. She has always found solace in art. What makes her smile, is being able to transform a blank sheet of paper into an artwork that people can own. Or better still, hang on their walls. Also for the past few years, her art consists of vibrant paintings which she describes as “what I want to portray in my work.” Spaces inspire her a lot, so she paints them often. We love her feed and the thoughtful (and oftentimes witty) captions she writes!
4. Zain Ayub
Zain Ayub is a young, self-taught, Karachi based artist who has been doing commission work for quite some time now. His artwork consists mostly of landscapes. He takes inspiration and re-creates his own art piece. An artist with a fresh and new perspective in life which reflects in his art. We wish Zain the best!

As you can see, Pakistan is full of talent. We only need to provide opportunities to our young artists in which they can thrive, discover themselves and hone their craft. Only then will they realise their true potential.
