Whether it is Maya Ali as Rakshi in Pehli Si Mohabbat, or Iqra Aziz as Ameera in Raqeeb Se, this drama season carries performances that have our hearts! Let’s discover the week that was!
Our television actors never fail to surprise us with their natural performances. They rule the screen no matter what character they are playing. Here are this week’s list of actors who dazzled us with their performances.
1. Iqra Aziz as Ameera in Raqeeb Se
Iqra jee nay kiya toofan muchaya hai apni zabardast acting sey this week. She handled her expressions so beautifully that we were actually entranced & not repelled by her. Iqra is shown to be hugely crushing on Maqsood Sahab, but it is her moon phat nature, her charming insolence, her upfront honesty to speak what we dare not think (yet might be thinking at some level) – Ameera seems to voice the silent thoughts of all those around her.
From Sakina, to Insha, she leaves no one out as Ameera blurts out the ever so strange, yet strangely relatable events in the Maqsood household. Iqra manages to ace every scene with every character, when she is teasing Sakina, attempting to charm Maqsood Sahib or just being her unassuming self as the ever-talkative Ameera before Insha. Ameera as she slaps herself in Rafiq Abay style had our hearts, Ameera as she springs onto the boat in Darya Ravi has our hearts too – Iqra has slipped into the role like a glove and wow, we are loving it!

2. Irsa Ghazal in Ishq Jalebi
A treat to watch her, portraying many minor but oh so appropriate nuances of foreign-returned rishtaydar. She will make you smile throughout. Irsa comes off as a complete natural – we won’t be surprised if most of the dialogues spill out unscripted, so prompt is the flow – her performance makes us laugh, smile and nod our heads as we relate to the many shades of foreign return we have witnessed and laughed at as desis! Hats off to a colorful character who’s adding the smile to our post Iftar chai time – with a jalebi on top of course!

3. Sania Saeed as Hajra in Raqeeb Se
“Biwi hoon aapki, is liyay batanay main daer ho gai”… wah Sania jee. You are the queen of expressions, the subtle change in your facial expressions, body language & tone at that moment communicated all that Hajra meant & had suffered.
Hajra is turning out to be the perfect woman. She is deeply human in her love for Maqsood Sahib, yet, deeply empathetic to the tragedy of an unfinished love story. She wavers from one side to another like a puppet on a string, yet, she’s stronger than that, she won’t let the string control her – Sania has captured the essence of a good woman, an understanding wife, a sublime human being in layers that are revealing themselves softly, just like Hajra – the beautiful portrayal has left us speechless!

4. Bilal Abbas as Haider in Dunk
From hugging little Ghana to apologizing to Minaal’s brother, Bilal Abbas won our heart in every scene. The smile that moved from happiness to victory as he contemplated Amal’s downfall, the words that he uttered so simply to Ghana struck a chord in each viewer as he took over our screens – eyes locked on Ghana. Great expressions there Haider, if you don’t know it yet, you just won a few more points against Amal, just with that apology!

5. Saqib Sumeer as Rafiq Aba in Raqeeb Se
Wow, what a great performance. The portrayal of angry, jealous & then intensely insecure husband was worth a standing applause. Saqib Sumeer left us speechless with a performance that spoke louder than all the dialogues we could listen to on screen. It was in the beseeching look he gave Sakina, begging her to deny her words, it was in the wrath of a husband scorned, it was in the sinister gentleness of feeding her cake rusk and chai – where have you been Saqib Sumeer, sweet as sugar in one take, and wildly uncouth and unrepentant the next! You are killing Rafiq Abay’s character like no other!

6. Maya Ali as Rakhsi in PSM
When she longed for Aslam but couldn’t have him, when she apologized to him, & then when her spirit broke with her father’s beating… she was brilliant.
Maya Ali portrayed multiple shades of the young girl who experiences first love, is respectful towards her father’s wishes, longs for her heart’s desire, yet complies with tradition. Could she have carried it off any better? Her muted sobs, helpless and defeated in love, touched our hearts no end. Maya you gave us a heart touching performance right there – Rooting for Rakshi in every episode!

7. Rabia Butt as Nargis in PSM
Rabia jee, kiya bolain hum… aapki aankhen Nargis ka dukh boltee hain, humain Nargis ka toota huwa dil dikhatee hain. You made us feel every emotion that Nargis suffered. Your words touch the heart of every woman wronged, you speak with your eyes and if ever an audience was rooting for a character to attain happiness, somehow, it is you!
Thanks to the stunning portrayal of Nargis by Rabia Butt, we cannot imagine anyone else playing that role. She has owned it like a queen!

8. Shameen Khan as Sajal in Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3
She delivered a very sensitive scene & message with such finesse that she didn’t let Sajal fall from grace in our eyes. We felt her pain at rejection & understood her desperation. We saw through the innocence, the heartfelt emotion that was Sajal, such was the sensitivity of direction and performance in this scene that we, the audience could not find it in our hearts to judge her! Well done Shameen Khan – you made us feel this one with our hearts!

9. Osman Khalid Butt as Fazi in Chupke Chupke
Fazi confused bhi hai, frustrated bhi hai or behno sey irritated bhi hai, but most important Meeno ki mohabat kay liyay ready bhi hai… OKB is wining us with his acting that is not over the top & takes on an ever so natural flow.
Keep on doing what you’re doing, in fact, do more of it, because it’s certainly winning the audience vote!

We are eagerly anticipating to see what are talented actors have in store for us for next week!
