The revival of Pakistani cinema has brought about the trend of sensational film premieres, and exciting red carpet looks. While some celebrities look drop dead gorgeous at these events, others, we believe, need to hire professional stylists.
Here is FUCHSIA’s take on the “wow!” and the “how?” looks of the premieres past!
WARNING: A bit more skin show on display than our eyes expect from Pakistani peeps, and some styles which might hurt the eyes.
BIN ROYE
The stunning Mahira Khan wearing a gharara with an ill-fitted, mismatched, something borrowed looking tank top kind of a shirt with a gold belt! And if that wasn’t bad enough, the earrings have sahaaray. This East-meets-West look looks like it is stuck somewhere in-between.
Since the film had more than one premiere, Mahira got to redeem herself with her next look in black; simple yet elegant.
The premiere was attended by other prominent stars.
Armeena Khan looked pretty in pink; Ayesha Khan rocked a stylish black top while Ayesha Omar looked sensational in a hot pink sari. Nadia Hussain wore a one-sleeved dress which we couldn’t quite figure out. Check out the looks below, the ones which could use a face lift!
Bushra Ansari could’ve gracefully adorned a sari or an elegant kameez with shalwaar/trouser. Not sure if this look is doing anything for her, but since it’s toned down, we can let her get away with it. Speaking of traditional clothing, however, we noticed Zeba Bakhtiar’s look at 2 different premieres. Very folk inspired, wouldn’t you think?
That’s not all, folks! The lads are also a proud part of the premieres, and we must admit, some of them have really left us in awe. Except for the butterflies, or paint splatters, or whatever that was on Humayun’s shirt; and whatever the reason behind Deepak’s expression, the men looked fine.
JALAIBEE
Moving onto the premiere of action-packed Jalaibee, here are some looks which left us surprised, pleasantly, of course.
Moamar Rana really should have asked the rest of the boys if it was a smart-dress-code event; and as pretty as Ayza Khan looks, the silk dress-shirt … and is that a lehnga? Doesn’t work!
On the other end, Zhalay rocked her yellow dress, and looked flawless; while Hira Tareen wore a tux-inspired suit with faux-gem-encrusted brooch and buckle. We wish she had gone with the less-is-more concept though. Just saying.
MOOR
Shaz Khan looked smart as ever in a black tux with an elegantly-dressed diva on his arm. Soniya looks fab in a pale blue dress, and Zubeda Apa (not part of the cast, of course, but a guest nonetheless) looks timeless and elegant in a black and white sari. However, we hope she can give some totkay for looking less distressed and drab to the lady in white, and the other in pink shirt and jeans.
KARACHI SE LAHORE
Ayesha Omar knows how to carry off Western clothing without being over the top, and Shahzad Sheikh looks fab in black-and-white with a ripped-denim-clad “going for the understated look” lady by his side. However, the white-and-pink look also shared by Ali Zafar … was that the theme of the party? FUCHSIA advises them both to go with a safer look next time, please.
DEKH MAGAR PYAAR SE
Last but not least, the stars who have left the papparazzi mesmerised by their dress sense and talent. Sikander Rizvi knows how to take smart-casual to formal-yet-dashing and Humaima Malik is bringing looks to the red carpet which aren’t your usual gowns and dresses. The dreamy white dress, and the funky bell bottoms with orange top are well-suited to the red carpet. At another premiere, the couple looks brilliant in blue, and so do the twins in the pics with all the boys and men. Eye candy, anyone?
Check out Shan looking dashing next to film producer-and-director Asad ul Haq who always stands out from the crowd. DMPS takes FUCHSIA’s award for best-dressed this red-carpet season.
