The first teaser of Sinf e Aahan has finally dropped starring the ever-gorgeous Sajal Aly as Rabia Safeer and it has our attention from the very first scene. Sajal Aly’s character’s transition from a young girl next door to a resilient cadet in a one-minute clip! Which is praiseworthy. It was almost as if we were with her throughout the tough cadet training and personal struggles. This journey of hers would be one to watch out for! We are already looking forward to 5 more teasers as this one was only focused on Sajal Aly’s character.
Sinf e Aahan is an initiative by ISPR and Six Sigma Plus Production. It is penned by the extraordinaire, Umera Ahmed, and directed by Nadeem Baig. ISPR has been focusing on producing women-centric projects, the most recent being ‘Aik Hai Nigar‘ which garnered innumerable praise, and rightfully so!

Initial Thoughts

The teaser is putting across a message that girls CAN have other goals than just getting married, goals that are perhaps deemed more ‘suitable for men.’ We can see Rabia’s own family discouraging her from joining the Army because “she won’t be able to take it.” This reiterates the fact that women in our society have to fight against all odds if they want to enter a career other than a female-oriented profession, so to speak. Perhaps this project will serve as an inspiration for young women & their families to consider unconventional career choices such as joining the army?
“Not all women wear pearls, some wear combat shoes.” Why not both, though?
Frame By Frame

Coming back to the teaser, can we just say how well Sajal is carrying that uniform! She is absolutely owning the look. Also, every frame carried a message of its own which was both attention-grabbing and equally impactful. Be it Sajal fainting and falling to the ground, her crying in the first scene yet not letting her emotions take over, her drive to push herself to get through the rigorous training – her journey will definitely be a treat to watch.
One of the scenes shows Sajal’s character, Rabia, having the same old ‘Shaadi conversation’ with her mother who so eagerly wants her daughter to get married. But we like how Rabia stood her ground – “shaadi honi hogi to hojaye gi.” Moreover, we finally spotted some male presence in the frame – Usman Mukhtar & Asim Azhar made a subtle appearance. Subtle, we say since it seems that the project is entirely women-centric, it belongs to the women & then men are but, supporting the plot, not steering it – Sinf e Aahan is staying true to its name.
While we celebrate the fact that this project is highlighting women empowerment, we did spot a rather predictable instance where Sajal’s character bumps into Asim Azhar. Will we see a romantic angle here? I guess we will have to wait and watch! Oh and wasn’t that Asim Azhar’s vocals at the end? An OST sung by Asim Azhar? Yes, please!
Sinf e Aahan has us intrigued. What about you?
