In a shocking revelation on Monday, Pakistan’s fast bowler Yasir Shah, along with his ‘friend’ Farhan, was named in an FIR for allegedly aiding a 14-year-old girl’s rape.

Details
The FIR was lodged against Yasir Shah and his ‘friend’ Farhan at the Shalimar police station in Islamabad, by a woman who claims to be the cricketer’s acquaintance. According to the complainant, she took her 14-year-old niece to a gathering hosted by the fast bowler, where his friend was also present. Farhan took her niece’s number and they kept in touch until one day, he stopped the girl on her way back from her tuition center and took her to an apartment where he sexually assaulted her and filmed the entire act.
The young girl’s aunt suspected something was off by the way her niece was behaving. According to her aunt, she seemed “unwell and disturbed.” The girl then revealed that Farhan threatened to kill her and post her videos online if she told anyone. Farhan then called the girl to the apartment and raped her again. It was also revealed that Farhan used to allegedly make the girl talk to Yasir Shah over the phone.
According to Dawn, the complainant stated, “When I heard about this, I called Yasir on WhatsApp and told him everything on September 10 or 11 at which point he was in the West Indies. Making fun, he said that my niece was beautiful and he liked minor girls.” He also threatened the young girl with legal action due to his connections if she went to the police.
Moreover, the woman told the police that Yasir Shah went as far as suggesting getting her niece married off to his friend Farhan. “When I threatened to go to the police, Yasir said let bygones be bygones and said he would buy the girl a flat and bear her expenses till she turned 18 if I got her married to Farhan,” reports The Express Tribune.
Police Findings
According to a statement by the Islamabad police, the girl gave a medical exam and the case will move forward indiscriminately keeping in mind the evidence acquired from the examination. It states, “The investigation will move forward in light of the circumstances and the results of the medical exam.” It added, “Indiscriminate legal action will be ensured if evidence of rape comes to light.” (Dawn)
PCB’s Statement
The Pakistan Cricket Board has also released a statement regarding the case which reads, “We have noted that some allegations have been leveled against one of our Centrally Contracted players. “The PCB is presently gathering information and will only offer a comment when in possession of the complete facts,” it further added.
PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja expressed his disappointment over the incident as it puts Pakistan cricket in a negative light. He said, “We are still assessing the situation but I will say that these players are ambassadors of Pakistan and such headlines are not good for Pakistan cricket. This was supposed to be a calming period for us as a feel-good factor had been created.”
Cricketer Yasir Shah has not released an official statement regarding the matter as of now.
