The Verdict
After a painfully long 7 months for Noor’s parents, the main accused, Zahir Jaffer was finally sentenced to death in court today. Zahir’s household staff Iftikhar and Jameel — both co-accused in the case — were sentenced to 10 years in jail, while all others, including Zahir’s parents and TherapyWorks employees, were acquitted.
The much-awaited verdict has finally been announced but certain questions are being raised on the sentence & court judgment.
It is imperative to note that the parents will try to appeal the decision of the courts. Also, should the parents and therapy works‘ employees not be referred to therapy or at least correctional institutes for attempting to harbor a criminal?
Also, should Therapyworks not be held responsible for employing a mentally unstable person in the garb of a therapist, also putting patients lives and mental health at risk?
It’s About Murder & Nothing Else
For all the women who were denied justice, let’s pray they never have to pay such a heavy price.
We hope and pray that our society teaches respect above all else for men & women. To judge a woman for her behavior, actions, attire, and code of values are not what a murder case is about.
It is about murder. That’s all.
Let’s remember to stick to the narrative whether it is Qandeel Baloch or Noor Muqaddam or any other woman whose life is in danger.
We pray Noor’s parents find solace, peace, and healing.
