It’s that time of the year again! On 8th March, women all around Karachi will gather in the streets to protest the country’s injustices and raise their voices on behalf of those who can’t. This will be the 5th Aurat March and it’s not only limited to Karachi but women in major cities like Lahore and Islamabad also come out to support the cause.
This year’s Aurat March in Karachi will have a special focus on labor rights and the unjust conditions laborers endure. Scroll down to see the 3 main issues they are raising this year.

1. Minimum Wage For All Workers
Workers should be paid a living wage such as Rs. 20,000 as per the law based on their access to safe housing, decent education, & reasonable healthcare for themselves & their families, whether they work in factories, farms, or at homes as domestic workers or as sanitation workers.
2. Provision of Social Security & Protection
In light of the labour they perform & the economic abuse they face, all women & transgenders in society should be provided with social security & safety through monthly stipends.
3. End to Child Labor
The state prioritises the welfare of children by prohibiting child labor, human trafficking & bonded labor. Every district of Karachi should have childcare protection centres & child support programmes.
