Pakistan is getting its first women football league, “Women Premier League (WPL)”, under the banner of Strawberry Sports Management. Scroll down to get the details!
Scheduled to begin in the second half of 2022, Women Premier League (WPL) will have multiple franchise-based teams on board comprising talented women from across Pakistan. Each team will get a name based on Pakistani cities and/or regions. Initially, the first season will have 5 teams however, this number may increase moving forward. Additionally, according to the league’s format, one season will take place every year while WPL will be spread over a span of 10 years.
In each season, a range of matches will be held between the teams that will lead towards finding a winner by the end of it. WPL will get a significant amount of national and international media coverage and will be aired live on two channels, as well as social media.
How Will The Players Be Selected?
Strawberry Sports Management will develop a Players’ Pool wherein women who have shown exceptional performances and talent will be added. The players will be recognized from all over the country and team owners will pick them for their respective teams.

Run by Haider Ali Daud Khan, Strawberry Sports Management is Pakistan’s first professionally run sports management company. Apart from WPL, it has supported multiple other sports like Kabbadi, Hockey, Climbing, and Baseball.
