Who would’ve thought to see Ahmed Sahab in a role other than a gloomy and serious father? He is neither sad nor serious in Hum Tum, in fact, he’s a TikToker dada and is best friends with his granddaughters! If that doesn’t grab your attention, what will?
His character in Hum Tum is starkly different from what he has done in the past and that got us wondering – What actually went behind creating dadu handsome? Was it easy? Or did it take a lot of convincing to make Ahmed Sahab accept this role? Well, we got our answers! FUCHSIA sat down with him to get into the nitty-gritty of his role and he spilled the beans on how he became dadu handsome (hint: it wasn’t easy).
It Was A Hard No From Mohammad Ahmed’s Side At First
Ahmed Sahab rejected the role without thinking twice and was quite adamant about his decision. Why, you ask? So did we! Well, in his defense, it was something that he hadn’t done before or was known for. Makes sense why he was so hesitant, right? And let’s address the elephant in the room shall we? The clothes, not just any clothes, Tiktoker dadu handsome’s clothes – They were a dealbreaker for him initially. He thought he wouldn’t be able to wear them.
But…Danish Nawaz convinced him somehow and Ahmed Sahab arrived on Hum Tum’s set. For his first scene, he had to wear a chamkeeli purple shirt, with chamkeelay chasmay and a hat. Yep, first scene. But, Kudos to him for going through with it and giving us such a memorable role, even if it means he doesn’t look at himself in the mirror when he is dressed as dadu handsome!

How Mohammad Ahmed Prepped For The Role
Once Ahmed Sahab agreed to do the role, he was in it to win it! He did thorough research on Tiktok and Tiktokers, especially of his age. He made 2-3 accounts on the app and started watching the videos, gauging Tikokers’ mannerisms and the kind of content people his age are making on TikTok.
How TikTok Changed His Perception
According to Mohammad Ahmed, his research changed his perception about Tiktokers.
“Yeh woh log hain jinko chance nahi diya gaya.”

He went on to state that people who make Tiktoks have the ability to make people in 30 seconds, which he does not possess.
On Hum Tum
Speaking about the drama itself, Mohammad Ahmed said he’s loving the fact that Hum Tum is intelligently written and is breaking many stereotypes. It not only gives thought-provoking messages but also delves into each character’s profession, education, & mentality without sounding too preachy.
