The drama has caught our attention through two conversational points…The impact of social media & peer pressure on the lives of young girls, and the marriage of single mothers who have grown-up children. Scroll down to read FUCHSIA’s review of Chauraha.

Writer Edison Idrees Masih and director Aehsun Talish beautifully capture multiple human emotions, societal stereotypes, and mental blocks related to single mothers, women, and marriage with older children. Shereen, Zoya’s mother would do anything to make her daughter happy without realizing the costs involved. The single parent guilt syndrome makes her purchase a phone for Zoya which has, unfortunately, led Zoya on a self-destructive path. While Zoya is old enough not to require supervision, parents cannot be oblivious about their children at any stage of their lives – a mistake her mom seems to be making at present.
Highlighting The Cons Of Social Media
The pressure of having no boyfriend has made Zoya befriend somebody on social media. It is scary but also a reality many girls might be living right now. We hope the drama will serve as a warning and caution for all young adults to be careful while using social media, especially making friends with people unknown to them, which shouldn’t be happening in the first place anyway.
We applaud the makers for depicting social media behavior that is so relatable, even if you are not Zoya’s age.
The drama also highlights a very important mindset women with older children have about marriage. And that is, how a single mother with a college-going daughter can consider marriage? It is something unthinkable and embarrassing and might reveal desperation. This is sensitively portrayed in Shereen’s response when she is proposed to by a close friend.
