A big shout out to the entire team and especially Director Qasim Ali Mureed for not screening the scene where Hamza raises his hand to hit Hala (which was shown in the promo last week). Not all men resort to physical violence when they get angry and Hamza is certainly not one of them. Scroll down to read an in-depth review of Mere Humsafar.

Is it Hamza’s embarrassment, his disbelief of the fact that his mother can be so ruthless and lethal that is making him go into denial & not accept the reality that he actually senses in his heart deep down? So he ends up disbelieving Hala instead and asks her to keep quiet and not mention this event? Or deep down, every man, no matter how educated, how learned, or how temporarily nice, is a man at the end of the day, whose judgment becomes cloudy when it comes to his mother despite having significant reason to believe the other possibility.
Hats Off To Hania Amir’s Performance
A shout out to Hania for impactfully portraying Hala’s frustration, helplessness, and disappointment at Hamza not believing her. We also felt like asking Hamza – why oh why? .

Hala’s response seems reasonable. She has tasted the flavour of confidence and takes a stand for herself, she has transitioned into someone who is speaking up for herself. This, combined with the fact that she has been pushed just too many times, and this time, Shah Jahan crossed the ultimate limits, has made her really angry and maybe a bit fearless – Motherhood also gives you strength. Do you agree?
Disappointed At Hamza’s Stance
If Hamza had just stopped at disbelieving that his mother could be so cruel, his reaction would have still been in line with his character i.e. balancing his mom & wife’s feelings. But the fact that he accused his wife of wanting to end her own pregnancy & thinks his mother can’t attempt such foul play, is perhaps, the most disappointing stance he could have adopted. Has he forgotten how his mother had turned Hala out of the house at night?
The drama is a Cinderella story and it breaks our heart to relive Hala’s tales of how Shah Jahan used to punish her, and gives us more insights & understanding about Hala’s personality.
Should Hala Come Clean About Khurram?
But alas, we wish she had come out honestly about Khurram. Now Khurram has completely caught her in his chakkar and Hala will have to pay a heavy price.
Saira Raza the writer gives all men and women food for thought with this powerful dialogue:
“Larnay kay liyay barabari chahiyay…Yahan to ek fareeq bohat taqatwar aur haavi ho gaya hai”
