“Shehrezade ki story mein Hilmand ki picture lugay gi”. What an emotional, dil ko chooh jaane wali, intense and engaging episode of Sang e Mah. Writer Mustafa Afridi and Director Saifee Hasan have kept us hooked to the story, just when we think it’s over, it’s not over as the suspense builds up further, complemented by impressive performances from the entire cast.

The conversation between Shehrezade and Hilmand was so lovely. It was just so endearing to see Shehrezade owning the relationship and her love for Hilmand and going all out to comfort him and support him. But alas! Hilmand is not ready yet…
Can love not heal you?
Is It Ego Or Hurt?
Hilmand is not willing to let go of his accusation against Marjan Khan. We wonder if it is his bruised ego that is making him obsess about it… is he still mentally fragile that he cannot accept the truth about his mother? Or the knowledge of discovering that he is the son of a man whom he thought was a saint, but whose reality is more like the devil, is causing him to feel irrepressible anguish and guilt, so much so that he cannot recover.
Does Hilmand feel he has to pay for Nasrullah Khan’s sins?
“Jirga jirga khalain gey.” The episode took a twist as Masha Allah Khan’s evil intentions came to the surface, and of course, Haji Marjan Khan’s sharp intellect wasn’t fooled one bit. It remains to be seen how this one will be settled in the jirga.
Loved how Marjan Khan refused to get intimidated by Nasrullah’s father and brothers. His hero-like stance and being prepared to save Zarsangha and also, his ability to sense Masha Allah Khan’s evil intentions made us root for him even more. Can’t wait for the face-off.
Why is the family not seeking Hilmand more actively? We wish Hikmet and Zarsangha or maybe Zarghuna could have gone looking for him. He is so alone and he needs love, comfort, and support of his family right now.
Would it, could it be possible that Hilmand and Marjan join forces to defeat Masha Allah Khan together? That would be the ultimate redemption for Hilmand and also perhaps, the only way Hilmand can find his way home!
Keeping Us On Our Toes!
Is the narrative going towards a typical Shakespearian tragedy aka Hamlet or an uplifting win? So far, the makers have given us reason to suspect they won’t let us lose hope. And although Hilmand is mortified in regrets at present, that is, the journey he has to cover if he is to eventually come out on top! Such is the riveting storytelling in Sang e Mah, that we are expecting a way out, and one we can’t predict.
