According to the YouTube description, the short film is a tribute to A. G. Chagla – whose soulful composition of the national anthem unites all of Pakistan, to a single rhythm of unity!

Watch It Here:

1. The Anthem

The anthem, composed by Ahmed G Chagla & penned by Hafeez Jalandhari has probably been rendered in countless musical variations, from Junoon’s electric vibes to Coke Studio’s inclusive take and now Zong’s eclectic beat – when the rendition stays true to the spirit of the notes, which are truly sublime – Pakistanis are generous in showering praise. Zong & Sheheryar hit the right notes too and listeners are loving the qaumi tarana set to traditional instruments.

2. Digital has truly changed the world & gives young creators a chance to showcase their talent

Gone are the days when musicians had to win the approval of music masters to get a foot in the door. From Justin Beebees to Shae Gill Young talent has found an ear through social media. Stars are made and get to be heard, appreciated and launched onto the big stage because they have the courage to post their passion on the streets. Let this be a message to all young, hopeful dreamers that their dreams will see the light of day if they step up and have the heart to perform everywhere and anywhere.

3. Failure is but a stepping stone to success

Sheheryar‘s character in the short film met with failure much before he finally touched gold. It is in hard work, going back to the drawing board, believing in yourself but also listening to the voices around you that drives your ultimate success. In other words, don’t get disheartened by failure, don’t fall victim to self pity, use your failure as a means to work even harder, achieve and create even better work that resonates with not just your but the listener’s heart and soul. Believe that “The finest steel has to go through the hottest fire”.

4. Brands have come to respect audience intelligence and don’t just pay lip service to a message

Zong’s attempt to convey the significance of a digital world to its users is not just about pushing the brand, but celebrating the message. It is heartening & refreshing to watch sponsored content that delivers subtle yet deeply impactful messages that can reach the masses through a medium that is available to everyone. Shout out to creative & intelligent marketing.

5. The Pakistani National Anthem Really Does Carry A Timeless Composition

Did the musicians even know that this tarana would still carry the heart and soul of the nation even after so many years? Each note hits different even after 75 years. The lyrics can bring tears to every Pakistan’s eyes – Saaya e Khudaae Zul jalaal is a silent prayer from the depths of our hearts.

Let’s pledge to do our bit in making sure we protect this land with as much fervour & love with which we listen to every new & soul stirring rendition of the anthem.

Directed by Sarmed Cheema, Zong’s tribute video featuring, among others, acclaimed actors Sheheryar Munawar, Manzar Sehbai and Simi Raheal. The venture not only delivered a soulful rendition but also set a great example for brands to send out a message that’s driven by none other than that … the message itself. In other words, subtle branding. Keep the faith that the rest as they say, will follow!
