Warning: This post is for those who are in love this Valentine’s & feeling to express themselves in (un)original ways!
This is to all the girls in love – and all the boys too! When the stakes are down, and love isn’t exactly what you’re feeling in your heart, you feel let down, angry, hurt or just plain upset, remember to throwback to a time that you felt helplessly, hopelessly, weak at the knees, in love. In a world where fast gadgets, virtual cards, and Instagram rule the world, perhaps a revisit of the simple intangible feelings that make you love your significant other, and that make your partner love you are what we need in our life.
Are you with me or has the cynical you already taken over the scroll down button? If you have, do stop by and smell the flowers first! It is Valentine’s Day after all, and my mind travels back to a LOVE IS series that has stayed with me all these years.
If you are deeply in love with your partner and you feel he’s the best thing in the world for you, this one’s for you. Yeah, we’re getting cheesy on Valentine’s but hey, can you pick a better day on the calendar to do that?
Turn On The Love This Valentine’s Day!
LOVE IS … were a series of posters and books that took on popular cartoon depictions in the 70s. They were a way for creator Kim Grove to express her love for her husband to be Roberto Casali. The LOVE IS … quotes grew to become famous and ever so popular cartoon illustrations over the years as a way of expressing your love for those you hold nearest to your heart. You can read more about them here.
As a tribute to the creators, we give you a set of LOVE IS moments you might relate to (yeah, things might have changed in 50 years, but love still makes the world go round)! So turn on the love this Valentine’s and let the magic take over!

LOVE IS …
When he makes your dad feel his daughter is in good hands
LOVE IS …
When you cook his mom’s favourite recipe and call her up to get it just right
LOVE IS …
When he tells you you’re not looking over weight, just cute, although the weighing scale tells you another story!
LOVE IS …
When he asks you to pick the dessert you want to share (although he’d rather have the cheesecake he’s been eyeing)
LOVE IS …
Sharing the last slice of chocolate cake with him
LOVE IS …
Knowing he forgot to get you flowers on Valentine’s but being happy with the last minute chocolates he found on the way home

Wanting to be a better person for him
The love that you feel today might be totally different from the love you feel for him after a few years into the relationship. So it’s always good to keep some moments handy to bring a smile to your face.
There will be children, (maybe) there will be arguments (definitely), there will be times you will want to walk out and never look back, there will be times you will walk out, there will be times you will return (maybe).
For all the reasons that you love him, remember that a part of him is going to change, grow, evolve, or even, regress. A part of you will also go through the same motions. But what can remain the same is the tone you set in your relationship.
Love doesn’t mean caring for his mother all the time, but it does mean letting him care for his mother, and vice versa, and not hurting him when talking about his family. Love means letting him keep his friendships, his hobbies and his me time, even though they are different from yours.
LOVE IS …
Wanting it to be Valentine’s Day all year round!
