Fari’s Journey Has Our Heart
We’re so invested in Fari’s journey, where will her dreams lead her, will she make it to the team, will she manage to navigate her way through the power politics we glimpse ahead and will Mishal join her on her mission to play for Pakistan. This is, perhaps the first time that we see women’s sports take center stage in a narrative and we’d like to say, Mubarak ho, finally – der aaye magar durust aaye!
Hareem Farooq essays Fari’s character with just the right vibe: Fari is all that we want to witness and celebrate in the spirit of a woman – strong, determined, pure at heart, not just a dreamer but a doer. It takes a lot of courage for young girls like Fari to step up onto the field, put yourself out there, not worrying about making a fool of yourself and just go for your dreams – and the wonderful thing is, it just took two words of encouragement from an empowered woman like Sana Mir, to give Fari that confidence. That is the power of an influencer for young dreamers, so, all those who hold that influence, this is a call to action – do good and use your platform to help someone else achieve their dreams, or at least, take the first step.
Nod To Real Street Match Feels
The entire cricket match challenge scene was executed in a super engaging manner. Not only was the bowling and batting top notch, but even the action sequences were on point, the humor fit just right, and the girl power brought a smile to one’s face. The street cricket feels were ringing loud and strong, and we were loving them!
What Matters Stayed On Top
It is critical to point out that while we loved the male narrative in the story and are looking forward to Wahaj Ali aka Junaid come center stage and enthrall us with his batting (and acting) strokes, we really appreciate the fact that the story so far is totally focused on women’s sports, Fari’s challenges and dreams and issues related to it. Newcomer Dure Nayab aka Liza performed well in her debut scene and we’re looking forward to more from her in future episodes.
