3 dramas that might have fallen prey to a rushed ending, find out which ones!

We propose we as humans continue to set ourselves up for disappointments. We prefer possibly seeing a ray of hope and sticking around till the very end. Foolish or Hopeful? At this point, beats us. Such is the pattern each time we set out to watch a new Pakistani drama. Currently, the landscape of Pakistani dramas is volatile, in the sense we have audiences reacting much more quickly to the faults/errors and makers more pressured to keep audiences satisfied but are they succeeding?
Today we touch base on why and how Pakistani dramas are leaving all the good parts for the last and final episodes while absolutely rushing through them. Let’s dissect the top 3 dramas that have garnered a huge percentage of the population’s attention while they reach their endgame and how we are left staring into space trying to come to terms with how they conveniently flashed through the end almost as if they were short of time Ahem, after screening 30+ episodes, mind you)!
Kuch Ankahi
Without any qualms, by far and large currently the saving grace of Pakistani dramas, Kuch Ankahi has swooped audiences in for a steady and smooth journey. People undermined its hold when the drama first set out to grace television screens. It’s unfortunate how shows with a positive society changing message pick up much later than sensational content. But Kuch Ankahi proved its mettle.
But…we are struggling to maintain the same enthusiasm, why have the makers left us lingering on the Aliya Salman and Azfar saga since eons now? Every time Saturday approaches, we think to ourselves: today will be the day Aliya makes up her mind and voices out her emotions to the love of her life. Today might be the day she breaks one of her suitor’s heart (secretly hoping it’s not Azfar whose heart gets broken) and lo and behold we end up with dashed hopes yet again. Why couldn’t we see Samiya and her newfound thought process, how she and Saif work it out? Plenty episodes down the road and we are still stuck with the same dilemma. How is it fair that the makers got audiences so vested in the journey of the three and they keep dodging us every weekend and now that only one episode is left to air, we still haven’t been able to be truly mesmerised with the romantic journey of the fated couple? How is one episode enough to give us all the answers, all the romance and all of Aliya’s complex thought process, layers peeling back and expressions of love?
In hopes of building the suspense for the story to hit the mark it might have just impacted our excitement levels. Too slow in the start and too fast in the end.
Tere Bin
Do we even need to give any reasons as to how the end was rushed to a point where it lost all sense? Audiences and their utter disappointment is a testament to the above. We know of genuine lovers of the show who were hooked but understandably so, towards the end could not bring themselves to watch it any further. Even the ones who did were left in disbelief at the ill fate of their beloved show.
Meerab just happens to find Saba for the first time in 2 years and decides to return just when Murtasim, is marrying his cousin.
She waltzes in, tilts her head in disbelief and Murtasim forgets he was seconds away from marrying Haya and walks to embrace his new daughter and wife. Maa Begum doesn’t even interact with her grand daughter and Haya, oh, just pack her off to the village once more! They just walk to their room where Murtasim after 2 whole years is concerned with what? Pray tell? Their 2 year old daughter’s new room design? Mind boggling, absolutely mind boggling. You didn’t ask her where she was for 2 years? Was she okay? Why did you leave? What was so scary about the last night they spent together?
Meerab doesn’t even seem to acknowledge the fact she randomly left and returned without saying a word, still not talking about the contract or the event that led to the circumstances? Why was he marrying Haya? The ending to the “hit” drama felt like a huge troubling favor to audiences. And just like that, the drama offers a 5 second scene of Meerab in a white outfit, a case file presumably off to become a lawyer. After an entire fiasco – this is what we get?
Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha
Saad and his never ending sadness and troubles have us in despair beyond repair. A strong upbeat start, an endearingly strong, positive male character in Pakistani dramas gave us so much hope but one after another, tragedies struck him rendering the entire story line so repetitive. We are seriously tired of seeing him suffer, devoid of any lasting happiness. Will we only see him happy in one episode?
Just when Maheer and Saad end up in a better place and we expect some heart fluttering moments of ice cream dates or Saad buying her flowers – but no, he is back in jail! Way to kill the hope…
We feel like there’s so much we have been kept waiting for, when will Maheer read Saad’s diary, when will they both create some happy memories and when will Saad stop getting caught in the line of fire? Leaving the happy moments till the end just makes us lose all the excitement and the will to actually cherish them because, well … it’s too little too late!
What do you think? Do you agree or think the big reveal should be left till the end?
