The drama scenes that had us saying wait, what? Let’s watch that again!

Yes, sometimes the stories we watch onscreen have that effect and what a moment it is, when storyteller and director bring a shared vision to the screen and make us, the audiences, smile or tear up or even laugh out loud, or merely say, this is why we’re watching it!
The 4 drama scenes that gave us a little bit more and pushed the envelope this week are:
1. Behroopia unveils the many faces of Mikael, or shall we say Kabir, or… Junaid or…?

When Mikael switched places ever so suddenly and unpredictably to give us the multiple characters residing inside him, it was a heavy moment indeed. While the drama had been educating and creating awareness about people afflicted by DID – Dissociative Identity Disorder, it was this particular scene, when Mikael, just married to Zara, unveils the multiple characters that take over his mind, unknown to the people around him.
The paintings added perspective and understanding to a tormented mind, one that Mikael has to submit to as the many characters inside him take over, one after the other and he introduces them all to Zara. Well done team Behroopia, the scene nailed it in performances, script writing and execution.
Up next is Shirin Farhad, making us fall in love with the written word.
2. Shirin Farhad – if letter writing wasn’t enough, we now know that reading is also a love language and possibly, the very best!

When Farhad gifts Shirin all his books, when he leaves them at her doorstep, when she hauls them in to her room and opens each one, with his name cancelled off and hers written on top, as if he had transferred his ownership along with his heart – what could be closer to one’s heart than a piece of literature that touched a chord deep inside and Farhad gifted his most treasured possessions to Shirin – also communicating with her through the best Urdu literature had to offer on the day.
The scene played with light and shadow as the camera zoomed out to show Shirin surrounded by the books she had just been gifted – a magical sight indeed – poetic in all its dramatic visuals.

And speaking of dramatics, how can we not mention the moment when Rosy follows Shirin through the imposing gates of Evernew Studios to pull—yes, you read that right—a gun on her, threatening her with what exactly? Even Rosy wasn’t sure what she wanted, as she toyed with the idea of either harming or warning Shirin—a desperate attempt to save a faltering career. The play of light, shadow and darkness with the walls of the studios behind the two, marked a dramatic pause in the episode, mid-story, as if the director had extrapolated everything that tormented Rosy through the dark and light shadows outside – a frame that spoke volumes through the lens and evoked a thousand emotions – of heroines who loved and lost and those who might be on the brink of success, just like Rosy and Shirin at this point in time.
3. Naqsh and the scene that stole the show

When Rahim was attacked by unknown people – a mugging gone horribly wrong, the moment caught the intensity and suddenness of the events. Everything happened really fast as it should, yet the panic did not take away from the fear factor and horrific nature of the crime. As Humna struggled to help Rahim, Rahim urged her to stay inside the car and then, all of a sudden, a splatter of blood on the window screen made the viewer and Humna realize that something dreadful had happened.
The ensuing panic and Humna calling for an ambulance was aptly screened; Naqsh aced this scene with flying colours, especially keeping in mind that action scenes are not a winning moment for Pakistani dramas, Naqsh creators sure pushed the envelope with this one and came off with a win!
4. Parwarish and Maya’s meltdown made us super emotional

Maya crying out for help all alone in her room, asking why she had allowed Wali to become so significant in her life, Maya questioning her fate – why and how is she caught in this forced relationship with Waleed, Maya later in the kitchen, taking on the case of all the young girls in our society who just want their dreams to come true and who work hard to realize them, Maya who knows deep down inside herself that she can, but she just needs her parents to support her – the scene belonged to Aina Asif for emoting so intensely, for making us feel every emotion and the scene belonged to the director, the writer and the entire team for making us feel her pain.
Parwarish delivered two emotional episodes back-to-back and two thumbs up for the entire team for giving us characters that resonate deeply.
And that’s it folks, these were the 4 drama scenes that delivered! Drop us a comment and tell us which were your top moments from last week’s dramas!
