One True Loves, Aristotle & Dante & More – Get To Know The Characters Before The Shows Drop!
While nothing beats the feel and smell of books, and the imaginative world we build in our headspaces, one always wants the memorable, compelling books to get space on the screen, especially those that are worth adapting. But as ardent readers, we would like you to revisit these books as they are soon to appear on streaming services in 2023. It’s good to be prepared by grabbing a copy of the books below, before they air.
1. One True Loves By Taylor Jenkins Reid
Taylor J. Reid books force me to go to my couch with sleepy vibes and sighs until the last page. Her solid storylines with character-driven plots and immersive settings will definitely make for great screen space so it’s small wonder that nearly all of her books have made it to the screen, or streaming space. One True Loves is another compelling read by Reid about a girl named Emma, who has managed to gather her life back together, and finally ready to give love another chance, after her fiancé has disappeared. But she must make another difficult choice when he decides to returns. The ensemble cat features Phillipa Soo and Simu Liu, so I am extremely excited to watch this film, and see how the heart-breaking plot pans out for the actors.
2. Aristotle And Dante Discover The Secrets Of The Universe By Benjamin Alire Saenz
Although a film has been screened on Aristotle and Dante, and also premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, the coming-of-age tale about two Mexican American boys growing up in El Paso, Texas, deserves an epic screentime. When I read the book, I immediately wanted this to come to life, and I can’t wait to watch these boys. I was lucky enough to have watched the trailer that seems to capture the book almost similarly as I had intended.
3. The Nightingale By Kristin Hannah
The Nightingale is a fabulous novel revolving around two sisters who struggle against the German occupation of France during World War II. Both battle in their own ways. One of my favorite WWII historical fiction novels are the ones with a focus on the role women played in the French resistance. This one is vivid, dramatic, heartening. And it is perfect for film adaptation. The film features real-life sisters Dakota and Elle Fanning as the stars. So, it is a small wonder that I am as thrilled for the movie as I was for the book. They haven’t been seen onscreen in the same project since 2001! FUCHSIA is definitely looking forward to how they transform the wonderful story.
4. The Last Thing He Told Me By Laura Dave
From all the books-to-screen adaptations releasing in 2023, The Last Thing He Told Me TV show can safely top my list. This thrill of a novel by Laura Dave was one of the few novels I have read in a single sitting. So, the weekly wait for every episode to release is torturous! A Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick turning into a Hello Sunshine Productions project is an offering that you don’t want to miss. With numerous twists and turns and shocking revelations, this adaptation will do wonders for the small screen! Hannah, with her husband Owen’s daughter, Bailey, is in search for the truth for Owen’s disappearance. The movie features a glittering cast with Jennifer Garner as Hannah, Angourie Rice as Bailey, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Owen. Needless to say, it is highly recommended to read this thriller before the miniseries takes the screen by storm.
5. Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
This miniseries must come soon! I have watched the trailer about three times in a row when it released. The cast, the music, the costumes, the ambience: this show entails everything that the readers will enjoyed about the book. I am as excited about the show as I was about the book as the interview-style is going to be a tough cookie for an adaptation. Full of emotion and empathy, you resonate and feel the stories of the characters. For those not aware, Daisy Jones & The Six is a whirlwind rise of an iconic 1970s rock group and their lead singer, to reveal the reason for their band’s disbandment. The curtain rises on Amazon Prime Video March 3.
