This Mother’s Day, we turn to our 5 celebrity mothers who share their take, journey, perspective and more on motherhood.

Our mothers are an everlasting embodiment of strength, selfless love and patience! For some it takes us years before we understand the real impact and weight of what they have given us, done for us and continue to do for us. May we learn and appreciate mothers for their whole entirety, for their selfless contributions and how the life we know now wouldn’t be anything like without our mothers. This Mother’s Day let’s take some time to ponder and think of all the countless ways our mother’s and all mothers are superhero’s because they really are.
We know it’s a phrase as old as time now but there’s a point in life, where even the majority of people you thought will forever be in your life, will fail you and who would be there to push you back into the real life? Your mother. In sickness and health, in joy and sorrow, at home and beyond our mother’s love carries us through. For all of us who have had mothers, have mothers or a mother figure in our life, mothers are our biggest cheerleaders.
We spoke to 5 celebrities who are women of multiple talents and have a significance presence in our industry. Women who are not only actresses working day in and out but also dedicated mothers who are their children’s first love.
1. Syra Yousuf
Syra and her bond with her daughter Nooreh are the cutest thing. Not just that but Syra is a very dedicated mother and has been choosing work selectively.
“I am not going to pick up crappy scripts just because I want to be on screen, I am a mother I would much rather spend that time with my child.”
Syra Yousuf
She also talks about the times she suffers from mom guilt. So many mothers would be able to relate with this. “As a parent there are a lot of times where I feel like oh, I could have done more here, I could have done this, I should have done that. Wo mujhay hota hai all the time”
2. Shagufta Ejaz
An exemplary actor and an exemplary mother, she had not allowed herself to be buried under her trials but only emerged to be stronger to empower her daughters for the future.
“For me, my utmost goal is to make my daughters independent. To this date, it is our society’s mindset to put down women and control them. If women are independent, then this attitude of in-laws will change, and the man will know that she’s already on her feet, so he’ll treat her equally.”
Shagufta Ejaz
3. Iqra Aziz
Despite being at the peak of her career, Iqra always dreamed about being a mother:
“I have always loved kids. Matlab bachpan se hi main hamesha bachon k aspas hoti thi, aap mujhe kisi ka bhi bacha de dein. Mujhe bas bache hamesha se hi bohat pasand thay.”
Iqra Aziz
She also talked about the mom guilt she feels when she has to leave Kabir at home with her mother and goes to work but at at the end of the day it’s also important for her son to realize the importance of having a career-orientated mother.
4. Mahira Khan
Mahira’s wish for her son is so special, it is sure what all moms aspire for their children and if not, it shares a great future advice for your kids!
“I wish my son to be a brave man, brave in a way that he speaks the truth, even at the cost of himself. I wish for him to be a kind man, but not at the cost of himself.”
Mahira Khan
5. Sunita Marshall
Sunita has spoken about how she has taken learnings from her own dramas and inculcated them in the way she is bringing up her children:
“Mein apnay bachon kay sath buhat change hogayi hoon. After reading the script ahista ahista apnay bachon kay sath mein nay apna attitude change kia. Specially when I started acting ussi waqt I started realizing kay mein yeh kya mistakes kar rahi hoon, this is so right jo script mein likha hua hai kay you know comparing both the children is wrong, oonchi awaz mein ya homework complete na karnay pay bachay ko daant dena, it is so wrong. Jab mein nay yeh realize kia tou mein itni change hogayi, ab mein apnay bachon kay sath itni different hoon”
Sunita Marshall
These perspectives from these celebrity mothers have been so diverse and inspiring. Mothers are surely the epitome of endless love and sacrifice.
Be sure to not forget Mother’s Day this year and tell your moms how grateful you are for their existence and for all that they do. Because that’s really the least we can do! They deserve the world and more.
