Hina Khawaja Bayat – a veteran actress who has worked in many memorable dramas including the iconic ‘Humsafar‘, ‘Zindagi Gulzaar Hai’, ‘Shehr-e-Zaat‘ and currently in ‘Khuda aur mohabbat‘ where fans are loving her Also, did you know that Hina is from Kashmir and started her carrier with the talk show ‘Andaaz Apna Apna’?
Recently, she gave an interview to FUCHSIA magazine. Here is a first-person narrative of some of the things she spoke about and why we feel she is, perhaps, one of the most compassionate actors in our industry!
1) “If I can’t do anything for you, I can just hug you and cry.”
“It’s a useless life if it doesn’t benefit someone.”
“It’s a useless life if it doesn’t benefit someone. I don’t make big claims but I feel that you should feel for someone in difficulty. I got soo much satisfaction through ‘Uljhan Suljhan‘ and ‘Geo Hina ke Sath‘. I truly felt that I am bringing some positive change in people’s lives. Even if I can’t do anything for them, I can just hug them and cry. I can at least give them love. If I can’t do anything for them, I can at least pray for them. So, in this way, I got very much satisfaction”.
2) Did You Know That She Helped Actors Get Their Due Recognition In Pakistan?
“In your country, actors are your identity, artists are your identity outside the country.”
“In your country, actors are your identity, artists are your identity outside the country. But here we don’t recognize that this is a profession. We all are taxpayers, we get our checks when we pay the tax but we are not recognized. So after many years of struggle, we got ourselves registered as an association and because these are government recognized, for the first time government recognized that yes, these are professionals”.
3) Did You Know About Her Love For Books Written By Razia Butt?
I went to my mom and while crying I said that I have made a mistake, I was not able to sleep after reading that book. I was very disturbed.
“It was Razia Butt’s novel ‘Bano’. Though our Urdu novels are not taken seriously Bano’s story was such, that when my very dear friend and director Haissam Hussain discussed a project with me and the moment he started narrating the story I said that it is Bano’s story. He was shocked and said that, please don’t tell me that you have read this also? I said I have. It was such a stamp on my mind that it never erased”.
4) Hina Bayat’s Opinion On Appreciating Indian Actors & Kashmir?
“Being a good person is what matters.”
“People easily say, “Pakistan shouldn’t have been made, what are we getting from Kashmir?” and I get so angry hearing such things – think before you speak, you don’t even know what you are talking about. People say to me that you watch Indian films, you appreciate Indian actors but you also talk about Kashmir. So I say to them that yes, because when Irfan Khan died (he is also one of my favourite actors) why should I say bad to the craft and the actor. An average Indian citizen can be my friend also. he can be a good person too. Being a good person is what matters. But state-sponsored terrorism whether it’s in India or Pakistan, will not be supported by me. So it’s not a question of Pakistan or India, it’s a question about humanity”.
5) She Is An Ace At Making Newcomers Feel Comfortable
“When you are new you need help.”
“I have been told by some of my directors that when they have to cast someone new, casting them with me is a plus point as I make them comfortable because I always think that he is new, once we were also new, we were also unnerved. The people who have done me wrong, I don’t have any bitterness for them but I realized that when you are new you need help. So maybe this is why I get along with youngsters“.
