It was hard to pick just 8 scenes this week, the Pakistani drama scene has suddenly lit up and we have a watchlist full of engaging storytelling and intense moments. Here are the ones that made it to our list in no partuclar order.
1. Pamaal
The moment when Anas enters Raza’s house to deliver breakfast was a tense, nervous feel. The camera angles taken from below to allow us to view the home from Anas’ eyes – grand, overwhelming and unnerving for Anas, brought it all home. Haris Waheed holding his hands to control his nerves, then all of them seated at the dining table, the uncomfortable feel emanating from Anas again and the build-up to the breakfast table, showing Raza and Malika sharing a moment of post wedding bliss, was captured to deliver emotion, dialogues and a sense of something not quite right, a subtle hint of things to come.

This was a dreamy wedding scene – intimate, elegant and quietly stunning. malika and Raza tie the knot and the secret was in the details. The scenic backdrop and outdoor set up, colour coordinated bride and groom allowed us to take a deep dive into the story, Pamaal is all about beauty in every frame and the wedding reception was no exception.
But against that near perfect moment was the sight of a sorrowful Anas who injected a tragic feel to the ceremony, making it all deeply poignant and perhaps, a bit ominous too. Pamaal speaks to audiecnes not just through dialogues but its carefully curated frames as well.

2. Biryani
Mammoo showing his displeasure to Nisa, not eating, telling her she can’t cry everytime she wants attention or things her way, Nisa, visibly upset by mammoo’s anger and silent rage. The entire scene came together so beautifully to eventaully show Nisa burst into tears, her helplessness, silence at the real reason she’s so upset and disturbed at mammoo’s naraazgi, pulled at our heartstrings – this Nisa-mammoo bond is perhaps the most beautiful relationship depicted in the drama and we’re so here for it.
Both Ramsha Khan and Javed Rizvi delivered a moving performance.

3. Jama Taqseem
This dining table scene said it all. From the moment Hameed told his father that it was they owed the business to his earnings, the money he sent while working abroad, to Rafiq telling him that if it hadn’t been for his mother selling her jewelery, he could have never gone abroad, to Majeed and Hameed having a showdown, the story spiraled into a dramatic and sad spin, as all three family members blurted out what was on their mind in a fit of rage and unchecked emotion. Each of them felt they were the wronged party and the conversations were deeply resonant with so many audiences watching – painful, uncomfortably honest and also, causing a rift between brothers, sons and father that will be hard to mend.
A very emotional scene, well scripted and delivered with sharp performance from all three actors.

When Qais and Laila fight with each other, one felt for them both. It seemed like this was the moment Laila would walk home, or Qais would turn into the stereotypical spoilt, angry young man, which he nearly did, but it is in how they made up that was truly relatable to many young couples watching. Despite the harsh exchange of words earlier, which many of us would not forgive Qais, the manner in which they made up tugged at the heart strings, and one forgave him nearly as fast as blaming hom earlier.
Both Mawra Hocane and Talha Chahour delivered believable performances, well played!

4. Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi
A shout out to Sidra Niazi for giving us Zara. She’s cute, comical, determined and such a drama queen when she knows how to get what she wants from Asad. This scene, when she burst into tears and invokes Asad’s apologies and then proceeds to eat mouthfuls of food, was an amusing take on a character that has surprised us with its clever comic timing – it is so entertaining to watch you Zara, keep going, every episode brings a new drama and we’re so here for it!

5. Case No. 9
This scene, when Kiran suspects the worst and interogates both Rohit and Kamran was a tense moment indeed. The conversation between these three, Kamran trying his best to hide the truth, Rohit playing with words and Kiran threatening to talk directly to Manisha was well placed emotion in action. All three actors delivered sharp performances as the tension cut through the air like a knife. the scene was also well placed in the story line straight aftre the court scene to portray how nerves are frazzled between these three and just might get the better of them. Kiran’s sense of doubt and confusion is tangible and Rohit and Kamran can onky do so much to contain her.
Well played all three. Case No. 9 is an intensely gripping watch!

And that’s all folks. The drama scenes that impressed us will be back next week. If you think we missed a scene, drop it down below in comments, we;d love to hear what hit the highs for you this week in Pakistani dramas!
