Who wouldn’t love Maya Ali on the screen, and that too alongside Bilal Ashraf?

While we look forward to Bilal’s debut drama project on TV, here are seven things you need to know about drama Yunhi, if you are planning on binge-watching it like us!
1. Directed by Mohammed Ehteshamuddin
The director Mohammed Ehteshamuddin has given us one of the most memorable gems when it comes to the drama industry. Be it a love story like Sadqay Tumhare or a story of women empowerment like Yaqeen ka Safar, a sprinkling of romance in cinematic release Superstar or a thought provoking does of History as in Khwaab Toot jaate Hain – Ehteshamuddin delivered valuable life lessons. Thus, knowing that he will be directing Yunhi, we have high expectations for the project.

2. Written by Sarwat Nazir
Sarwat Nazir gave us two recent family dramas fit to watch last year in 2021. One was Pardes, talking about how family dynamics work when the head of the family lives abroad, and the second was Dobara, which gave us an insight into how broken family functions, age difference in marriage and family dynamics. Hence, one thing that stays common in Sarwat’s dramas is the strong female figure binding the family together through thick and thin. Dare we hope Yunhi will deliver another portrayal of a powerful woman?
3. Love story & Family Drama with Cultural Diversity Thrown In
Pakistani dramas are often considered love stories revolving around the desi societal norms, but Yunhi has a twist as it includes the lifestyle abroad as well. Keeping in mind that it is not just a love story but a family drama too, our desi audience who lives abroad will be able to relate. Moreover, the fans who live in Pakistan will be able to understand the relationship dynamics of marrying people who might share the same nationality but vary in upbringing and cultural norms. from their native country.
4. Location
As revealed by the director, the locations for the drama Yunhi are multiple. But the central location is a house from where the shooting takes hold and from where the story begins. We are hoping to spot some scenic sites or will this one be a Mere Humsafar style narration, executed largely within one main household?
5. The Ensemble Cast
We agree that in a love story, the male and female lead matter most but the ensemble cast raises the game to a whole new level. Thus, the support cast includes Manzoor Qureshi, Behroze Sabzwari, Deepak Perwani, Tahira Imam, Tazeen Hussain (daughter of Talat Hussain), and Uzma Baig. With such a powerhouse of talent, we are hoping for a block buster!
6. No need for Anti-Depressants, Claims the Director!
Intense or Uplifting? We asked the director if the story of Yunhi would need us to reach out for anti-depressants – do you blame us? Such is the nature of the content we watch on TV these days that we struggle to smile through all those tears! Naah, says the director, Yunhi promises to be an uplifting narrative and here we breathe a sigh of relief! Definitely watching!
7. Coming Soon!
When is the story coming to a TV screen near us? Sooner than you think! January is the month we hear and shooting for the last few episodes will continue even as we roll into the opening episodes.
Yunhi is all set to air episode 1 next week! Are you all excited?
