Pakistani Dramas are an intense mood in storytelling and this week was no different. The stories gave us much to talk about, some lingered longer than others though and here’s why these Pakistani drama scenes from the week deserve a lookback, read on!

Let’s begin with the drama that’s still warming up to Pakistani drama audiences. And while the dialogues have met with mixed reactions, these scenes stood out in performance, execution and scripting in Main Manto Nahi Hoon
1. Main Manto Nahi Hoon
When the story gives us an up-close look at Azaan Sami Khan and Hajra Yamin’s characters – she asking him if he’ll ever leave her, and him asking her to shut her eyes, place her hand on her heart and ask, if he could ever leave her… the whispers of a silent breeze, the deceptive rays of sunlight making her feel all was well, and then… poof! He’s gone!
The scene said everything in its telling silence; if only her heart would tell her what we all knew in that split second.

When Suraiya phoppo and Mehmal have a heart-to-heart talk, it always runs deep. Suraiya advising Mehmal to consider Mikaal’s proposal and not discard it only because he was chosen for her by her parents struck a chord. The thought was intentionally opposite to what Mehmal had earlier learnt from her college friend Hajra Yamin’s character, who had simply rejected a guy because he was her parent’s choice. But such is phoppo’s influence over Mehmal that she will consider Suraiya’s advice. Well, because she is phoppo after all and these two share a bond that runs deeper than any friend advice Mehmal might receive.
The expressions, dialogues, and performances from both Sajal Aly and Saima Noor win over the scene.

2. Naqsh
When Hamna visits Rahim’s new office and surprises him with a painting, it’s a heartwarming scene. These two know how to carry on with life despite the roadblocks they face. The significance of the scene depicted in the painting and Hamna’s prayers and hopes for Rahim, rising above the rest, really captured the essence of the moment and communicated everything; from their relationship, to their determination to fulfill their dreams against all odds.
A well-executed scene where the secret was all in the details!

3. Mohra
Alizay and Hamza grabbing a rikshaw together was an amusing moment in an episode that was otherwise quite intense. The manner in which they both argue and then Alizay gives in, how she couldn’t locate Sikandar and seems heartbroken, while Hamza, puzzled yet wanting to help, set the scene for what’s to come between these two.
A brief meeting between our hero and heroine but one that left its mark and left audiences wanting more!

4. Parwarish
When Wali and Maya argued for the first time, as in, let loose a full-on meltdown, it was a gripping scene. Aina Asif delivered a fab performance, utterly seamless, and Samar Jafri supported her totally with his expressions and body language, totally shocked at Maya’s reaction. What were you thinking Wali? You asked for it and you got it!
A very well performed scene that deserves full marks on execution, performances and scripting!

When Sulaiman speaks to dadi, asking her to understand his point of view, yet knowing full well that she will always be partial to Jahangir, was another Sulaiman moment of many we loved. Sulaiman telling his mother why he must side with Sameer, take responsibility for his choices and not punish him for one wrong mistake, is a breakthrough moment in desi parenting.
Sulaiman the lone warrior in Parwarish parenting is winning hearts every week!

Good to know, Parwarish had a lot more going for it this week, and we have more on the episodes and scenes that impressed us here, so read on if you’re a Parwarish fan and relive the moments that won us over!
5. Sher
Tehmina essayed by Munazzah Arif in Sher totally stole the scene in her confrontation with Badar Zaman and Dr. Rangoonwala. Her calm yet calculated reaction, especially when she questioned Rangoonwala about why Dr. Fajar was allowed to treat Sher despite her clear objections, was powerful. She knew everything – yet chose to stay composed. That level of control, paired with her anger, added real weight to the scene.

6. Goonj

When Zarnab and Farhad engage in a war of words over the dinner table, it was an intense battle of words, both trying to speak their minds without getting too agressive. Zarnab was not about to back down when met with the typical judgemental mindset about girls working in the media industry and Farhad, not backing down either as he revealed a cob-webbed yet true-to-life mindset. Both actors, Komal Meer and Ali Safina delivered a powerful performance as tempers were kept in check but just barely.
Great scripting in a scene that laid bare, what many think but might not speak out loud so blatantly. Goonj is giving storytelling goals and we hope you’re watching!
