Reports are claiming Bollywood movie SatyaPrem Ki Katha is set to remake popular Coke Studio song Pasoori and Pakistani fans are absolutely fuming. Find out what Twitter is saying!

The Bollywood film “SatyaPrem Ki Katha” is slated for a release this summer, featuring stars Kiara Advani and Kartik Aaryan. Indian movie tabloids have reported, the film makers have planned a surprise for the audiences – a Bollywood style remake of Ali Sethi’s global mega-hit ‘Pasoori’ Claims are: “The shoot will take place today and it will be shot in Mumbai over a period of two days, The song, Pasoori, is extremely popular in the digital world and the team is hoping to recreate the same magic,” the report further shared. The song is expected to be released days before the film’s release.
Pakistani fans of the hit Coke Studio tune, Pasoori sung by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill are frantic over reports of Bollywood attempting a remake for the soon to release starrer, “SatyaPrem Ki Katha” featuring Kartik Aryan and Kiara Advani. The movie is directed by Sameer Vidwans and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and will release in cinemas, June 29th, 2023.
The news of the Pasoori remake has not been well received by Pakistani fans, who wish to save our music from Bollywood’s unfair claim to fame. Originally sung by Pakistani sensations Ali Sethi and Shae Gill, Pasoori had been the most searched song on Google in 2022. As soon as the news about ‘Pasoori’ being recreated for Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani’s upcoming film ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’ broke out, fans from Pakistan have reacted fervently on twitter judging the possibility.
Let’s see why audiences are not happy with the possible news:
Is It Fair Based On The Ban On Pakistani Artists?
“When Bollywood can create iconic songs like #PhirNaAisiRaat #OBedardiya #ApnaBanaLe #TereHawale Then what’s the necessary to recreate a already hit song ? Especially during the times when #india imposed ban on #pakistani artists.. it doesn’t seem fair!! #Pasoori“
Indians Agreeing It Belongs To Ali Sethi, Shae Gill & The Pakistani Music Industry
“No no no no no Bollywood please don’t remake #Pasoori Padosiyo ke saath saath humari janta bhi maaf nahi karegi
#Pasoori is an amazing Pakistani song…. It belongs to #AliSethi, #ShaeGill and #PakistanMusicIndustry“
Can Bollywood Not Make Originals Now?
“On a serious note, I don’t understand what is the need of this? #Pasoori is one of the most popular songs of 2022 from coke studio artists with 600M views.. how does it make sense to remake this popular song..? Atleast songs to original banao. #SatyaPremKiKatha @TheAaryanKartik“
Is Bollywood Setting Out To Claim Pasoori’s Fame?
“It’s unfortunate that we knew this would happen as soon as #Pasoori hit popularity last year. Where is the creativity? Pasoori has 600 M views! Just waiting for Kahani Suno to be “remade” now. Why do great songs need to be remade at all? Just so they can be “claimed”?””
But Have The Makers Sold The Rights?
“All of the #Pasoori lovers are blaming @NGEMovies & #KartikAaryan for ruining the classic. Nobody is questioning why the makers have sold the rights. They don’t care about their art? You should stop caring too. Not a fan of remakes, but eventually it will find its audience.”
Kartik Aaryan Should Stop Butchering Remakes!
“Yes now it irritating #KartikAaryan should stop remaking I hate all this producer director sorry Kartik but now it to much Say no to remake @NGEMovies don’t remake #Pasoori or you will pay for your sin #SatyaPremKiKatha“
We Hope Coke Studio/Ali Sethi Have Refused The Offer If There Was One
“Nooooo pls no – #Pasoori is a gem. I hope @cokestudio Pakistan refuses this offer!”
Personally, we think remakes are a big gamble on their own – they could either be a hit or a big miss! We have to say though, imagining Pasoori as a Bollywood remake is a bit unsettling and we agree with the audiences how it’s unfair in terms of them remaking our songs but placing a ban on our cinema and artists. They should at least level the playing field! While we have reached out to Ali Sethi and the Coke Studio composer, Xulfi Bukhari on whether the hit’s remake is confirmed and have the team acquired rights, we have not received a comment as yet. We will be sure to update you as soon as we do.
What are your thoughts on the possible remake?
