Catherine, Princess of Wales aka Kate looked radiant in blue as the British royals attended the Scottish coronation. Have we seen it before? Find out more details on her outfit choice!

Royalty is synonymous with the British, who just crowned their new monarch in early May this year. Looks like they just had a second coronation in the land of Scots. Though Charles and Camila’s coronation was held in May, barely a few months ago at Westminster Abbey, why was there a need for a Scottish coronation again? The Scottish coronation in Edinburgh’s St Giles’ Cathedral, is specifically held to present the king with The Honors of Scotland, considered as the Scottish Crown Jewels – made up of the Crown, the Sceptre and the new Elizabeth Sword. The ceremony has traditionally been held separately as England and Scotland had different monarchs and were separate kingdoms until the crown unified in 1603.
Though a formality – It was a momentous event with notable traditions that were paid respect to with full pomp and pageantry (our favorite part)! The Prince and Princess of Wales made a joint appearance with King Charles and Queen Camilla in Scotland’s St Giles’ Cathedral following a procession from the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Catherine, Princess of Wales or Kate has dazzled us peasants sitting at home scrolling our feeds. Though we are curious, where was the rest of the royal clan?
Did you know while in Scotland, the Prince and Princess use their freshly minted Scottish titles – “The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay.“
What Did Kate Middleton Dazzle In? Was It A Repeat?
Catherine, Princess of Wales has an admirable and socially conscious penchant of recycling her most loved royal outfits and this time too she chose to do that. While looking regal she also looked very “states like” and the blue coat dress was ultra flattering on her lean figure. The radiant blue coat dress she is seen wearing is from her go to and royally approved designer Catherine Walker, she paired it with a stunning satin blue headpiece from Philip Treacy, blue suede court pumps from Emmy London with a blue scalloped clutch bag. Notably, she paid tribute to Scotland’s flag on the momentous occasion, wearing the monotone color along with donning the late Queen Elizabeth II’s four-strand pearl choker and pearly earrings.
Kate previously wore the same Catherine Walker coat dress first to the Commonwealth Day Service in 2022, she sent fans and royalists in a frenzy yet again when she re-wore the above for the royal Easter celebrations in 2023. In March, she had paired it with a more subtle blue head piece, a different clutch and nude court heels.
No Ceremonial Robe For The Princess?
Though if you are wondering why the Princess was not wearing a formal ceremonial robe when she was wearing one at the coronation in London on May 6, unlike her husband, The Prince of Wales, King Charles and Queen Camila who all wore ceremonial robes at the ceremony in Edinburgh? Turns out the 3 are exclusively a part of the Order Of The Thistle, the highest order of chivalry in Scotland which in turn gives way for the ceremonial robes.
Trouble In The Royal Kingdom?
Its being reported it wasn’t all cheery and patriotic because the Scottish are calling for a referendum for Independence once again after the last one in 2014. Many protesters were seen sporting yellow and black slogans: “Not Our King” and chanting the same along the route of the procession the King and Queen were to pass through. A handful of protesters were arrested too.
There were also questions surrounding the need for so much pomp and lavish expenditure on a coronation yet again.
It’s a tale as old as time where Kingdoms go through troubling rhymes, will they survive or end with modern day crimes? Well, not to get too dark we just love the royal looks!
