Just as we smiled over the heartfelt thoughtfulness that was Salma, withdrawing from the competition to give Sikandar a chance at winning, the smile left us like an icy cold, wintry whisper as we see Muniza calling up Atif to play the toxic game (Oh so ‘seen before, done that’) prevalent in sooo many Pakistani dramas.

Why can’t we have friendship goals just like we have sister goals – both relationships in toxicity mean there is much to progress in Pakistani drama storylines. But then, that is the story – however, and let it be said, a better plot twist would have been appreciated. First Hina in Mein and Now our dear Muniza in Tumharey Husn Kay Naam! The new plot lines in dramas – move over toxic sisters, scheming friends are taking over our drama evenings!
But what is Muniza up to really? What is her motivation behind calling Atif in the park to show Salma meeting Sikander’s mother?
Initially we thought Muniza is interested in Atif herself that is why she got in touch with him. But calling him at the park and then showing him how Salma is meeting Sikander’s mom really surprised us. Is she planning that through this scheme, she can show Atif that Salma is already involved with someone else? Unfortunately, she doesn’t know Atir’s ego has been aroused, and he is now bent on marrying only Salma, and Muniza now stands very little chance of marrying him.
A Love So Pure …
The drama takes us back to the world of honest and genuine acts of love. Like Salma backing out from the competition so Sikander can get the scholarship. is salma in love or just a genuinely good hearted person who wants to see a good man like Sikander get ahead in life? Tumhary Husn Kay Naam continues to give us a poetic kind of love, a slow and stealthy journey that grows upon us as it does upon our hero and heroine. It;s not really a mad, crazy kind of love at first sight, but rather, a meeting of souls, values and pure emotion, consideration for the other – a kind of selflessness whcih is only felt by those who are well and truly in love!
Well done Tumharey Husn Kay Naam for defining the feeling for us wrapped up in endearing moments; from Salma singing in the college courtyard to Sikander speaking about her to her mom, hoping, praying for his dream to come true!

Salma trying to avoid her mother’s questions about “Gur” and dodging her interrogation was very relatable for many young people who would have faced the same situation. It is interesting how the same situation – Salma singing in college has been perceived & presented completely differently by the two families. However, Salma and Sikander are lost in their own fairy tale without realizing what is about to hit their world. The story promises not just to love, but a great deal of tragedy and as we brace ourselves for the fall, let’s enjoy the moments that make us smile.
