Tumharey Husn Kay Naam is a timeless love-story woven in threads of melancholic romance, philosophy, nostalgia. Salma and Sikandar epitomize true love as a condition that defies all man-made social divisions and differences; the only condition that transcends the human soul beyond the realm of space, time and gravity; the only divine truth to this mundane existence. With recent episodes the makers merge also, the modern love story and heartbreak of Salma and Sikandar’s children.
Unfortunately, similar to Salma and Sikandar, the marriage of Sara and Umer is now off the table, albeit under slightly different circumstances. While Sara has eloped, not with Umer, we wonder if she did so to ensure her mother has a chance at a happy ending in her love story. Though we can’t be 100% certain about her reasons, we hope that Umer and Sara will also unite. Will they?
The Endearing Highlight Of Last Night’s Episode
In last night’s episode, we found the father-son bonding between Umer and Sikander over the phone calls to be truly endearing. Up until now, we had witnessed a struggling and strained relationship between the two. However, in this episode, they connected over their mutual heartbreaks: Sikandar’s still heavy on him from yesteryear and Umer’s very recent one.
Sikander is giving single parenting goals, he consistently checks in on his son, understanding his experiences and making a sincere effort to support him while respecting his personal space. When Umer finally answers after a few rings, Sikandar intuitively senses that his son is in a dark room without any lights, prompting him to ask Umer to switch them on. Perplexed, Umer questions his father about how he knew, to which Sikandar responds, “If I were in your place, I would do the same.”
He even instinctively knew that Sara probably contacted him, which she did, albeit through an email. He wanted his son to have closure, and Umer once again wondered how his father knew. To which Sikander replied, “Yeh baal mainay dhoop mai nae safaid kiye” (a typical desi dad line, right? But we aren’t complaining!) Their supernatural flow of conversation was so comforting.
Sikander Understood Umer’s Need For Space & Time To Heal
Sikander very cautiously yet awkwardly even tried to offer his son support and asked if he wanted to talk to him about Sara. However, as Umer hesitated and declined, Sikander quickly grasped the situation. “I understand, chalo yeh tou personal matter hai, and I respect it.” He refrained from pressuring or prying into his son’s feelings, a tendency often seen among desi parents. While such actions stem from love and concern, there are moments when allowing children space and time is equally important, which Sikander understood.
And he spoke the words, that any child would need the most from their parents during challenging, heartbroken and difficult times: “Likin ek baat, umer zindagi mai kabhi bhi yeh mat samjhna kay tum akelay hou. Mai tumharay sath khara hou, tumhara jo bhi faisla hoga na, I will always be there for you” We truly felt Sikander’s sincerity as a father in this scene, credit to Imran Abbas’s compelling performance.
Sikander’s Golden Piece Of Advice To His Son (Which We Can Make Use Of Too)
He consistently kept tabs on Umer, prompting Umer to inquire why Sikander now checks in with him daily when he hadn’t done so before. In response, Sikander imparted valuable advice to his son: “Umer, zindagi bohat choti hoti hai, aur jawani usse bhi kam. Bahar niklo, enjoy karo, dosto se milo aur ghumo.” We all can agree with this golden piece of advice. Sikander’s mind wandered back to his own youth, recalling the losses and heartbreaks he had experienced.
The creators masterfully portrayed a heartfelt, man-to-man conversation between father and son, weaving intricacy and authenticity into the narrative.
