Just when we think Green Entertainment can’t have something new up its sleeve to shift attention from the currently running Pakistani drama entertainment onscreen, we get a new hit of stories that just might make the evergreen hobby of Pakistani drama watching a whole new experience, yet again. Dil Ka Kya Karein might just be one of these stories!
Dil Ka Kya Karein is the new story hitting our screens with Imran Abbas, Sadia Khan and Mirza Zain Baig in the driving seat. Love triangle? Maybe, but look a little closer and it’s not what it seems.
The Story
Dil Ka Kya Karein is about superstar Aryan Khan played by Imran Abbas who’s achieved everything he wants in life. But it’s lonely at the top, and Aryan feels an emptiness in his life, a vacuum that can’t be filled with the endless glitz and glamour and fan adulation that’s a constant in his daily life. Most people would die for this, yeah? But ask those who live it everyday – Aryan is your live case study, and he contemplates walking away from it all. But just as he’s being advised against it by his agent and friend, Siam and Sophia, there’s a new fan on the horizon – Shehrbano aka Sherry.
Sherry, essayed by Sadia Khan, is absolutely crazy about Aryan. But here’s the twist in the tale, and a refreshing, perhaps, relatable one – Sherry is very clear about the real and reel life world. So while she’s a fan of Aryan, the actor, she’s also clearly and in love with, her fiance Nial (Zain Baig). And the two worlds are in no danger of colliding.
What’s Different, You Ask?
It’s good to see Pakistani dramas move away from the obviously insecure male hero who feels jealous or suspicious when the girl he loves, fangirls an onscreen star. Nial shares in Sherry’s fangirling, her effusive love for the actor and her unending appetite to watch Aryan Khan film reruns. Yet he is secure about their relationship and even finds her adoration of the superstar mildly amusing. We hope the story continues to show this positivity as … anything can happen in the world of Pakistani dramas, so, never say never!
All three main leads, Zain Baig, Imran Abbas and Sadia Khan are engaging to watch onscreen. One hopes that the narrative, though filmy, keeps the story strong and offers insights into the real life stories of stars who might have achieved the “stars’ in their career but crave the wholesomeness of a deeper connection with the world, beyond stardom.
