If you thought you will get an intense action, revenge and a thrilling, violence-based sad-romantic script, Ishq Hua surprises you with a well-executed humor element along with all the previous high points, making it a great watch. The sets, the cinematography, the performances, the production quality and the direction, have taken drama production to another level of excellence.
Storytelling Through an Enigmatic Lens
The attention to detail, art direction, multi camera angles employed, the depth of the scenes, the color grading, the right balance of subtle and slightly exaggerated performances by different characters all must be appreciated, and credit must be given to the 7th Sky Production House and Wajahat Hussain.
Backstory
Tabraiz’s parents were murdered by ruthless Bahaar, only to be raised by him as he is told that Bahaar is his brother. Tabraiz is haunted by dreams of how he had seen his parents getting murdered. We are curious to know how he ended up being raised by Bahaar and what role Daas plays in all this. Minsa’s father has his own embroidery workshop in Bahawalpur and despite many proposals, does not want to marry his daughter to any one right now. The parents are killed by their own employees for money. Minsa being all alone is attacked by a goon, to be saved just in time by Tabraiz who has come to Bahwalpur to convince Minsa’s parents to marry her off to Bahaar. And now starts the love story that we are looking forward to in the coming weeks.
Action Moves Balanced By Light Humor
Action sequences are impressive. Each set location seems to have been specially curated through art direction, making it visually aesthetic. Despite the fight scenes and ruthless killing, the depiction also keeps the drama a light watch by bringing in the humor angle, which helps keep viewers engaged.
Performances
Haroon Kadwani gives you a hero whose action moves are impressive, and whose vulnerability arises from his curiosity about his past. Despite being a part of Bahaar’s gang, he is not into senseless killing and last but not the least, he keeps it real with a light-hearted angle to his personality. Komal Meer is not just looking lovely, she also wins you with her performance. As Minsa she is not too bold or too weak, just a girl next door who dreams about her prince charming. Sohail Sameer stands out as Bahaar and definitely creates a fearful impression in audience’s hearts. In addition to his character look, his transformation, his portrayal of Bahaar’s gentler yet bitter side is praiseworthy. Daas played by Shehzad Mukhtar is a heart winner. You become a fan immediately.
Just A Few Things To Note
- Some of the characters look too perfect and clean-cut, given they are living in a lower income street area and are goons, the ruggedness in their features, faces and clothes should be more apparent. Too much facial editing can be avoided in the coming episodes.
- If you have woken up from sleep, there shouldn’t be a trace of make up on the face.
- Rukhsar waking up Tabraiz, falling on the charpai beside him and then both of them very casually continuing the conversation while lying together on a single charpai seems a bit unnatural, awkward and thrown in for sensationalism, which we wish had not been the case. Minsa instantly running into Tabraiz’s arms at the end of the episode, as she is relieved to see him as a saviour, seems what one would do in such an extreme situation, however although she recognises him as her relative from the picture, the action still seemed a bit incredible and more for dramatic impact.
We wish the creators would add scenes where they make sense and are needed. And not to create unnecessary “drama moments”. If you haven’t seen it yet, give it a shot. You will certainly enjoy it. Drop us a comment to tell us what you think.
